I posted briefly the other day on another thread that Mrs Fuzzy had joined the herd but thought she should have a thread. She joined them on Thursday and so far things are ok. There has been the usual dominance behaviour etc but it is dying down a bit now. Our neutered boar Barney has also finally started to leave her alone.

The first pics she is with the 2 top sows and seems to have their approval which is great. Any issues have been with the lower ranking ones. The black skinny katie was fine once she realised Fuzzy would not be stealing her damn cozy.

Your pigs are all gorgeous, plump and healthy looking! I hope things continue to go well :)

We too are soon to increase our lot, from 2 to five.. lets hope it goes as well as yours have.. xx

Thank you, Mrs Fuzzy is all hair, she weighs 794g today but she is a heart pig and has gained around 200g since joining us and being put on heart meds.

Aw they are a gorgeous group of piggys. Love your hay stack idea, thats great!

I am always envious to see a member with such a lovely big herd. I have just the 2 boys. My granddaughter and I recently went to our local piggy rescue to donate some goods. Before we left my son admonished me not to get any more pigs (he has to look after them when I am away). I explained that at the moment I am limited by space, so no danger in more piggies. Hopefully that will change at some future time, as I'd love more piggies.

Well done with Mrs Fuzzy's heart problems!

Great news!

The dominance behaviour is perfectly normal - it is most pronounced from the sows just above Fuzzy in the hierarchy as they want to make sure of their own position. I see that all the time with my own big group.

Yes have seen it happen before, it is definitely the lower sows with the issues, thing is I don't think Fuzzy has any intention of being bottom, the little madam. Jess has been chattering at her a bit too as she has gone down the ranks drastically these last few months and also gets chased a bit by Barney so I think she has the most to lose. Doesn't help they got stuck together under a fleecy bed (where Jess normally sleeps) and I spooked them and Fuzzy lunged at her so now she chatters when she sees her. Am hoping she will be ok in a few days. Jess we think has some kind of brain damage too.

Aw, what a gorgeous herd, i am very jealous! My piggies are also jealous of that hay and asks what it is and where Mummy can get some?

x

Mrs Fuzzy! x) x) Hope everyone settles into their place... Its bad enough with 3! Don't know how you cope with 12 :)) Please keep us updated on them all Helen x

They have a misture of meadow hay from the man who lives downstairs and works at a farm supply place, Oxbow Orchard grass, Alfalfa King Timothy Hay and Burns Green oat hay, plus occasional treats of Oxbow Timothy Hay and Botanical hay.

Thank you, I will do. Main worry at the moment is Jessica, so will see what the situation is when I get home.

Well Mrs Fuzzy has turned into Mrs Stroppy, not with the other pigs but with us, when we pick her up off the floor for her heart meds she schreeches the flat down and kicks us, it's a right little tantrum. Think that must mean she's having fun. She was there in the thick of things waiting for her veg this morning too.

:)) What a diva x)

I got home last night to find Mrs F in season with a vengeance, poor Barney looked very flustered and she did nothing but hump all the other pigs all night. Things have quietened down now thank goodness.

Well things have settled down with the herd now and Mrs Fuzzy has found her feet, here is a rare photo of all 12, though Amy is a bit of a blur.

Great photo of the herd x) x)

Sorry i missed you post on Mrs Fuzzy in full pelt :)) Poor pigs! What a menace!
