Hey all,

I don't get a chance to pop on here so much these days. I'm very much busy with work, writing journal articles, research and lectures as well as full time clinical work. But I just wanted to say hey to all you old timers to let you know how things are doing with my gang. Plus I like to talk about my piggies, not had much of a chance.

Last year we had a really bad year for piggies lost, 9 in total, many just to old piggie issues - mostly kidney failure but a few sad youngesters lost. I lost my special little tricolour Rocket who I loved dearly. But now a new generation of piggies have appeared.

I still have two oldies from my old lot going.

First of all my little Nutmeg. Many of you remember her as a long term neurological piggie, perminant head tilt and an abnormal gait. She's now pushing almost 7 years old this year. Has some arthritis but happy as can be. She lost her companion Wilson last year to kidney failure, she was devestated but now has settled into the herd to retire and really holds her own and tells everyone off.

Then my little Merlin, who's 6 now. He's sadly got kidney disease and has lost a lot of weight but he's very happy. Unfortunately he had a new lady called Lottie just over a year ago due to losing companions but sadly Lottie got heart failure and passed last year. He's such a lovely boy.

So last year we got these two lovely young sows as companions for him in his twilight years/months from Hazelcroft rescue - unwanted pets due to allergies I think. Little Cosmo the crested roan who's a satin too (I must say I have a soft spot for a satin) and Aurora the tricolour smooth. Both full of beans, Cosmo is very confident and Aurora quite reserved but coming out her shell slowly.

Still in the main gang is my Sven. The three legged boy, he was rescued about 3-4years ago from someone wanting rid of three boys, he was bullied by the other two. Sadly he broke his leg and due to complications needed it amputated. He's happy still, though we've recently put him on pain relief long term due to some arthritis - to be expected to be honest. He's a character but no good at keeping his girls in line...

Then I have the two clouds as I call them. Rescued two little 9 month olds a year or so ago now from a friend in the veterinary world. From a hoarding situation. Cloud is a cream coloured Peruvian and Nimbus a grey Lunkarya. I cut them back very short to reduce the mess and keeps them cool, hence Nimbus looks short. Both were very skittish but now very much mellowing. Nimbus more than cloud, though she does seem to have a congenital heart murmur.

Cloud...

Will post the last naughty few in the thread...

The last few newbies are the little family. The two older ladies are Susie and Mumma. Both were used as breeding sows with back to back pregnancies for breeding 'skinny's'. Susie (at the top one in the photo) had already had babies and they found a lovely home. Mumma's litter were born with me at mine last summer. I kept all but the little skinny boy who now resides perminantly at Hazelcroft rescue, he's called Winston. The mums really love there food and are being spoiled rotten here. They like to rule the roost in the herd but Nutmeg soon tells them off from time to time.

Here's the Mum's

The three little sisters are naughty little ones, very full of life. Lupin is a werewolf skinny pig (partially haired skinny), a bit of a runt but no surprise due to being from a back to back litter. She's nutty. And her two sisters are just as naughty, Leila and Luna.

Here's Lupin.

And Luna (left/middle) and Leila. Both little chocolates.

Hi. I’ve really enjoyed reading all about your piggies & their characters & I’m sorry you’ve suffered some losses. Looking forward to hearing more & seeing more wonderful piccies. Thank you for sharing your lovely story. Love Svens cute face.
I’ve got a trio of 3 lovely sows called Heidi, Cocoa & Chloe.
