Packed with piggy pictures, reader stories and interesting articles as always, but even more so this time!
Order here as a print or as a cheaper download option that is internationally available: Guinea Pig Mag

Mine came yesterday! The penis prongs article was really interesting, I give a lecture on penis spines (in hedgehogs and fruitbats) but I never realised piggies had them!

You can find a picture of one in our boar care guide: Boar Care: Bits, Bums & Baths
We do get the occasional question about what the strange thing at the tip of the penis is...

I will resist the urge to wake Theo and Ollie up to have a look now but I might take a peek on saturday when its weight and health check day... I never saw any prongs before but there again I wasnt looking for them!

You may not necessarily find them even in an extended penis; they can be well tucked in.

I've seen them sometimes when health checking but not sure which of my boars I've seen with them. Will take more notice and make a note next time. I've a feeling they don't always become visable so would be easy to miss, even if they were a sign of fertility as was thought it would be easy for the inexperienced to think a boar didn't have them when he did. A scary mistake to make, glad Cavy Corner has been able to disprove the myth.

I dread to think how many misjudgements have been made over the years... :(
And I hope that the vet is going to publish the result in a relevant place to make sure that the literature is adjusted!

The magazine is never boring and there is so much to learn even on subjects you thought you knew!
We are definitely not running out of material anytime soon!

I love the magazine and have them all except no. 21. If anyone has a spare copy I would love to buy it. I know I can download it but it's not the same as having the complete glossy set!

Sadly no. 21 is out of print.

I am very sorry.
Sadly I only have my own copy because that issue was before I started working for it; and I need it for reference reasons.

Could you ask the magazine whether they could post on their page if somebody had a no longer needed copy?
