Thought it was all going too well with the Newlyweds Mr Ted and Miss Mollie. Seemed to be a match made in heaven, and after 3 months with us Mollie had never been seen at the vets (where I seem to have a reserved parking space). Still no sign of discord or disharmony in their cage or any obvious signs of stress but last night at cuddles time I noticed Mr Ted had a patch of broken hair on his back and Miss Mollie was scratching away at her back, too. So both have been to see the vet and got Zeno treatment for mites. No broken skin or sores so caught it early, but I'm a bit mystified as to what's induced this.

It is often a bit of a mystery why mites break out; eggs are present in the skin of many piggies. they are normally kept in check by a fully operation immune system. Any lowering of the immune system through illness or stress can trigger an outbreak.

As you you have caught it early, it shouldn't get past nuisance level.
