Hi,

Sadly my little girl's future isn't looking so good. I think this weekend will be her last. She is only just about eating (hay mainly) and i wondered if they was anything really, really nice for her for a treat (i'm not hugely bothered if it's not that good for her.. i just want her to be happy).

I've tried apple, pear, cucumber, celery, swede, parsnip, carrot, many types of cabbage, brocolli, grass, sweetcorn, tomatoes, lettuce & banana (i think that's it!)

Any advice greatly appreciated!
Nici x

How about parsley or spinach? My pigs don't get them much because of the high calcium content, but when they do they go crazy for both (see my pic of Max chomping parsley in the photo gallery).

noted! thank you :) i'm going to make a list & go shopping later. I stopped giving her brocolli (her favourite) because of the high calcium... i didn't even know about that, until the vet asked what i fed her (i wish they'd asked that 6 months ago)

I recommend Parsley too :)
Mine get it once a day and go crzy for it!

Usually clover would go mad for grass, but she's not too bothered about it :-\

Parsleys on my list now, thanks!

Definately grass and dandelions! Mine tremble with excitment when they see it coming and beg like little puppies!

But I think you should load her up with as much parsley as she wants! My Rodney favourite food was banana so he had almost a whole one the last day! Bless them

Hi Nici, how about rasins. I give mine a rasin each evening for a treat as thats what my chinchillas have as a treat & i'm sure your piggie will love to have afew.

can they eat dried ones..well those you get in packets from the supermarket?

Spudnik, yes i get the packet ones from the supermarket & they love them! I shouldn't think they should eat too many but just one or two a day as a treat can't hurt & they go mad for them! :)

kale! my piggies love it, they're not allowed it too much cos of the calcium thing, but they go nuts for it! however, it's a winter crop so you might not be able to get it, i think Tesco do it though! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
also if you want a treat, treat there is this treat stuff which you can get from P@H called Herbs plus and it's from the boredom breakers naturals range, it's got herbs and grains and dried fruit and veg and other lovely stuff in it and my pigs go absoloutly NUTS for it! :smitten:

Parsley is always a winner in this house but they also love dandelions, plantain and yarrow straight from the garden... If you dont have a garden or some near by see if you local farmer has any in his fields (check theyve not bee sprayed) but when one of my piggies was really poorly it pulled him through... good old natural medicines!

oh thanks i'll try some, we always have them in the cupboard :)

I agree with parsley and coriander, my 2 love them. You could also try the occasional strawberry cut in half :D. One of my piggies goes nute for them. :D

Thanks everyone for the tips! She's got just about everything possible now, but the only thing tempting her is cucumber and grass. I bought a bag of those herbs from pets at home, they smell just like herbal tea! (which would make sense :p).. she didn't seem keen, but i imagine she'll have a little go.

I haven't tried raisins though, will do as soon as i post this!
nici :)

i hope she enjoys them, bless her. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
