The Non-Stripey Nose Club

Caribou and Nutmeg are super jealous that the other four in the herd got to join the super dumb #Stripey_Nose_Club; Them punks.

They are curious if they would be welcomed here (although, Caribou believes that she should be in the Stripey Nose Club because her nose stripe is simply being camouflaged by the rest of her, as to not flaunt to the others... but nooooo she got rejected).

Everyone is welcome. Even stripey noses who find that other club too uppity. My own stripey nosed Lulu left bc her cage mate Lollie was excluded. Look a few posts back. We even have a dog to pull the wagon in the parade.

So funny story. I hate snakes. I know in my head they're more afraid of me and blah blah but when you six and your older brother catches them and chases you with it, trying to drop it down your shirt, it kind of leaves an impression..
When I was at my old barn I was cleaning Askims stall. He liked to roll in the bedding and pushed alot in one corner. So this particular day I dug the pitchfork into the corner and flipped it over. Well there were 2 black snakes and a garter snake in that pile. I screamed bloody murder and to the shop. The poor guys had no idea what I was screaming about. Finally they figured out that somehow I volved a snake. I made all 7 of the guys go into the barn and search it. I refused to go back in. That was the end of stall cleaning that day.

Ff like 20 years. I'm now a grown adult and my daughter is about 3 years old. Were at the zoo and a very nice lady with an official zoo shirt presented a white snake (not the 80s metal hair band bc that would be totally awesome) to my child to pet. Now I don't want my kid to be afraid of things so I take the big step and I PET THE SNAKE! She didn't but 5 years later isn't afraid of snakes and I'm not so afraid anymore. There are some that I think are beautiful. I'm still not touching them tho.

Fish on the other hand. Fish will always freak me out.

It's really rare to see a wild snake in the UK but I wish I got to see snakes like that. When I was 5 I went to America and we were camping in the woods. I came across a rather large rattle snake when I was away from my family collecting fire wood. It was chasing after me for some reason and me and my brother had to huddle together on a rock while the snake circled around us. A lot of screaming and chaos later and my dad and uncle killed the snake. You'd think that would give me a fear of snakes but nope, just scared of my uncle instead. Phobias are wierd things I hope you get over yours one day snakes really are wonderful creatures 🐍

In my area, snakes are super common. We have about half a dozen on our property. We'll find them occasionally, just sunning on the driveway, or taking an afternoon slither across the yard. We've started naming them too lol. It started with one we named Speedy, then another we named Speedette, and then after finding some hatched snake eggs in the compost pile, we named the little ones the Speedites. Oh, and a rattle snake named Bitey xD

Two more non-stripies. Here's Binky

I like seeing all these pics, and would like to add one of my cats who has a most interestingly marked nose - maybe she could be an honorary member of this new club? :)

Perry would like to join you all, especially since his brother Kevin has just discovered the club for white-striped noses. At least they both belong to a club now and neither one will feel left out!
