Really hard times come to our flat.Grey got very unexpected stroke and week ago comes results from Ruby tests started with sentence which put us in deep deep depression.
Now she is successfully recovered after biopsy and even able to retake her alpha rank back.
Her pigture in 17 number of GP magazine, page 7 and my avatar.
She lost 100gr of weight (960 of 1060)and on daily steroids now along with gut protector.
I will try bring her last days with unlimited salads, grass and hope to make her last days as bright as possible and beat promised 1-3 month maximum.

I am very sorry that you are having such a bad time. Lymphome is the news that nobody wants to hear! :(

Next day after Grey died,my wife found 2 big tumors under her neck.Doctor said this could be due to infection or due to tumor. It is only relief we found it so early. The main issue now she continue to drop weight despite eating even more. What kind of food will give extra weight to her ?

I am so sorry she is so poorly. sweet corn and oats are used to help piggies gain weight.

I will write a detailed reply on food and care once on laptop. Treacy had Lymphoma this year so have experienced it. x

I am so sorry for the diagnosis :( I too have had a piggy with lymphoma but we sadly had to let her go the day we found out.

I am sure sport_billy will be able to give you some fantastic advise and like piggyfan has suggested, plain porridge oats (either served plain in a bowl, sprinkled on food or mixed with warm water) and fresh corn on the cob can help to keep the weight on xx

Hi, sorry for being so late getting back to you

Here is a link to Treacy's thread, I haven't really read through it again as I can't bring myself to yet, but it charts what went on... It doesn't end well as you will expect but there are details of meds etc in the thread...
When reading it just bear in mind Treacle suffered with bloat before her Lymphoma so don't panic and expect that to happen.. http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/treacle-has-lymphoma.103647/

Treacle was treated with steroids, these shrink the lumps (hopefully) and are given by injections at intervals agreed by the vets, they will slow the disease down but not stop it. The main thing is quality of life, our vet assured us Treacy was in no pain and Treacle for the large part of her battle with the illness was her normal happy self. If she had started to be in pain, struggle we would have PTS earlier than we did.

So I would discuss Steroids with your vet and go for regular check ups to feel the lymph lumps they will appear under the chin and noticably back of piggie knees... Remember as the cancer grows they will probably get more hungry and weigh more as the lumps are heavy. Keep regular weighing, maybe a little extra amount of veg seperate to their friends (We spoilt Treacle daily with her favorites lol and would take her out to give her a little extra) and top up with CC, Oats etc... as you feel nessacary. We didn't start syringe feeding until near the end. On Steroids their apettitie increases so make sure they have extra food to compensate.

The lymphoma affected Treacles eyes and made the red and swollen our vet told us some eye drops to use to help soothe them.
The other downside of steroids is they weeken the immune system so make piggies more susecptible to infections, just keep a close eye out for them. Treacle suffered with Bladder issues and was plagued with UTI towards the end, you can't use metacam with steroid but Opiate based painkillers are available and are detailed in Treacles thread, opiates when given alongside a gut stim like Emeprid are effective and the gut stim stops them from slowing down the gut too much.

I know how painful this is to take, you will do the best for Ruby and make everyday you have with her a great day. Our last month with Treacle was very bitter sweet, she bonded so close to us having her meds and cuddles and would come over to me to be picked up, something she would never have done before.

I hope I haven't rambled too much, I'm not a wordy person... Just aim for quality of life as you guidance and it will make decisions as easy as they can in this awful situation. If you ever want to chat I will pm you my number and you can always find me on here.

Love to Ruby and a hug to you x

There is 1 month gone since biopsy. She is ok now.Fingers crossed.I started cut fresh grass again in local park on weekly basis.Oats, fresh corn are not working. But She got good appetite and keep weight on 977gr level .I found oxbow pellets in vetuk ,which we never used before and guineas found them really suitable food.Friday I'm going to vet for new portion of medicine as our calculation shows they gonna be finished around 29th of Dec.
We love everyone.Almost latest video

Oh that video is precious! Look at her taking her meds so well. Am so sorry to hear the bad diagnosis. I am sure you will do your best for her.

Good night world! We are still love everyone and feel not so bad.We became slightly slim even same weight 1063gr.We got special diet which include many taste things which normal guineas never have in their life.
Unlimited fresh grass.Almost unlimited parsley. But we don't like it so much.We like peace of pineapple.Freshly squeezed orange juice with biolapis along with steroids and gut protector. We cant clean yourself so have special cleaning procedure on daily basic.Yesterday we used piggy slave electric shave to remove fur around private areas to prevent fur became wet and dirt.As result we sleep well today as was much warm and soft be on vet bed.Looks like all fat from body gone included we lost our fat cyst which we found 1 month before cancer and decide to watch instead of having second operation of removal. We tied eat smoothed porridge oats.So we are still fighting and waiting spring!Video and pigtures will be posted soon.Legs cross, cru cru everyone!

Thank you for the update - she looks good in the picture, dear little girl. You are looking after her so well.

Unfortunately Ruby passed away this morning. We are visited vet yesterday.Even get new option of steriods.I found her this morning still warm.RIP
God rest her soul, run free Ruby RIP

So sorry to read this. Huge hugs, you did all that you could. Popcorn free beautiful girl x

I am so sorry for your loss. I can tell how much you loved her. How heartbreaking.

for future cases.Vet said Elspar (L-Asparginase) from http://www.guinealynx.info/records/viewtopic.php?t=123 is good idea - but it is very expensive.Sad he is not able to get it in time.He told earliest he get it Monday. It might help with steroids.
Last days we feed her with recovery mix.She eats well on her own but to provide more supply we give extra food.AS she lost her muscles and fat we not limited her with food.Time to time take her and feed separately from other guineas. We are noticed lumps around 18th of Nov.So this is approx time for this condition.
