My big group of piggies (10 sows and a neutered boar) have been looking a bit... well, moth eaten lately and last weekend I had them all out for a good groom and trim and treated them all in case they had mites. I noticed then that some of my Peruvian ladies had quite interesting 'fringes' that looked like a monkey had been set loose in a hairdressers. I was a bit baffled as they've been quite a steady group and their hair has always stayed lovely and long.
Today I added a new long haired girl to the group, and within minutes the cause of the problem revealed itself in the form of the 'Phantom Barber - Cuddles (aka Killer Pig!) - she immediately started chewing the new arrival's hair!
Guess I'm destined to have a lot of odd looking longhaired pigs down there from now on. I can't put Cuddles anywhere else as she won't cage up with a friend at all, she will only tolerate other pigs in the big herd.
