Piggy bank wont have me so their loss really on that part then :-)

They probably wont have me either, probably because I see things in shades of grey and not black and white. Like I am against irresponsible breeding but acknowledge that breeding will never be halted and it will continue, you just have to make it responsible.

Its a relay of people willing to transport piggies in need. For example Edinburgh to Leeds, Leeds to Keele services, Keele to Corley services, corley services to Northampton for visit to vets.

Why won't Piggy Bank have you? I'm not in the piggy bank, but have helped several times in the last few months transporting piggies to TEAs :) I make no secret of the fact my piggies aren't rescue but I wish they were :) Unfortunately there are no decent rescues near me but I love piggies & wanted to rehome some so I researched very carefully & have no regrets as to how I came by mine :)

The piggy bank has a hardline against breeding and you have to uphold that. I am realistic to know breeding will never be stopped so I am not eligible. I am against irresponsible breeding however and believe in some form of regulation.

This is the ethos of the piggy bank, I have bold and underlined the areas that I cannot 100% comply with.

The core of the Piggy Bank UK ethos is not to support breeding/showing or promote/support petshop/non-rescue rehoming, and to ensure the 5 Freedoms as set out under the AWA 2006 are met or exceeded. These pro-rescue ethics extend to the members own actions, to promote adoption from Approved Rescues and to help raise rescue awareness in as many areas as possible. This enables the Piggy Bank UK Rescues to rescue and rehome larger numbers of guinea pigs more effectively each year. The Piggy Bank UK members expect high standards from the Rescues they support, and within their own membership. All members must be 18 yrs+.

But clarify, I dont have a problem with showing or responsible breeding (but not wholly in favour either, more neutral) and likewise with petshops I get my supplies from my local petshop who has worked with me to get the best stuff in for piggies, again an education process. But I would always stress re-homing from rescues above all others.

These are primarily the reasons why I cant be accepted by the Piggy Bank.

In The Piggy Train Group we have no piggy politics & will transport any poorly piggy regardless of where it came from or who owns it. The piggy's welfare is our first priority.

Speaking of Piggy Train's we're trying to get another one up & running for Saturday afternoon. We're bringing a piggy that needs dental treatment from Tyneside to Northampton. This is probably going to be done over 6 legs. We have the first 2 legs down to North Yorkshire in place & the last 2 legs from M1 Junction 28 to Northampton. Please let me know if you can help in the centre legs of this run.

I dont know but from a thread on facebook its clear that they wouldn't accept donations from p@h of food regardless.

that to me implies that even if piggies were starving their ethics come first.
