Well, the pigs I mentioned in this thread: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=51418 are finally here! The poor little piggies are still not in a great state, but they are getting a little bit of hair back. They’re very skittish and scared, poor things.
They are now in my neighbour’s huge hutch, which she has lent to me. They have been presented with a huge pile of veg and they looked so shocked – they’ve only ever had cabbage and carrots before!
I am so happy that I have been able to help them, I feel like I have helped to make a difference now. They all ran into the bed compartment which I have filled with hay for them. The baby boars are separated to prevent any accidents!
Their Beaphar is due again on the weekend and seems to be working! One has very squishy poops – not runny diarrhoea but not brilliant. Hopefully a proper diet and some TLC will help them!
They were brought in with a beautiful roan boar and a few other boars...I am just hoping that the roan is not the father of the roan sows babies...hopefully no lethals.
Just a quick question – babies are 3 weeks old now, looking very healthy but obviously I want to treat them – will they be ok with one pipette each of Beaphar at this age?
Here are some pictures of them:

What a beautiful group of piggies! I am so glad that they let you bring them home to spoil and nurse back to full health.

they are adorable. good luck sorting them out :) will you get to keep them or have you got to return them once their healthy

They look very sweet. They will soon overcome their shyness I'm sure.

Please be very careful with the vegetable intake as this is likely to upset their tummies and I would advise to just introduce one new veg at a time in order to avoid the runs.

Also you will need to seek veterinary advice about spot on treatment for pregnant sows and very young pigs as it's not always advisable. Perhaps give Chrissie a ring at Gorgeous Guineas about skin treatment.

Good luck with them. I'm sure they will be fine and their hair will grow back in no time.

Aww my the baby boars are gorgeous, hope the mummy's to be and all of the special little piggies get well soon and are enjoying their new home! Will you be keeping us updated on their progress? It'll be lovely to hear how they are! :)

Well done you. Fingers crossed they all pick up quickly in your care and the pregnancies go smoothly. xx>>>

Thankyou for the advice summerleaze :) I will make a note to speak to the vets. By the way, my friend Briony mentioned she has been helping you out at the rescue, if I pass my driving test, I'd be interested in doing the same!

Yes I will be keeping you all updated on how they are doing! Hopefully all happy stories.
I'm not keeping them, they are going back to work once they are fit and healthy... Though I will find it hard to part with them!

UPDATE:
The piggies are getting on very well. It seems the suspected pregnant sows are infact just very fat! I imagine their large tummies may be partially due to overbreeding, I highly doubt they were housed away from boars before they came to us :(
The baby abyssinnian ish sow is back to work tomorrow, I'm going to try and bond her with our 3 older sows; Pumpkin, Latte and Gingernut :)
Tomorrow I will also clip everybodies nails and re treat those that need it! The worst sow is already getting a thin layer of hair growing on her bum. Things are looking good :)
I have a day off on Wednesday so am hoping to let them out on the grass then if the weather stays nice! I will try to take more photos of them then.
My dad said he wants to keep them all! He has a soft spot for piggies :)) Sadly thats not possible but at least it means he won't be opposed to a herd-expansion if there ever is one!

That's great news that the sows aren't pregnant and that they're healing up nicely. I'm sure that's in a big part due to you providing extra care and a calm environment for them. Looking forward to pics when you get time.

Great also that your dad is piggy friendly. :)

They're so beautiful, I'm glad they got to go home with you now.

Well yesterday was a busy day, all piggies had a thorough health check with nails clipped, those who needed it had some more treatment, and lots of cuddles and time in the run!
I was also left looking after my 10 year old brother, and seeing as piggy time was going to take up most of the day, I left him with my camera and he sat in the run with them quite happily for 2 hours, taking photos! So, here are some photos of the piggies now, looking so much better already!
I am growing attached...they now wheek when they hear me coming, and when they hear me picking grass for them. They are lovely.
Slight picture overload, but I'm just so proud of their progress.
(The damp patches on the back of their necks are from their spot on treatment...it looks kinda strange!

Little Tufty is due to go back to work next week and be bonded with our 3 elderly sows, Betty, Bubbles and Brandy. I'm keeping the baby boars for a while, who are now in a seperate hutch, as we have 4 boars at work that all get on very well (I still can't quite believe it!) So i don't want to inntroduce these guys in case I upset the balance, so we are working on finding a nice new enclosure for these two boys!
The older sows will be staying with me for the rest of summer I think, just checking they are not pregnant and giving them a chance to totally recover :)

What lovely pics of some very happy piggies! You have done a smashing job indeed!

You're doing a fantastic job with them. Well done. Gorgeous piggies and your brother took some great pics too. :)

Pumpkin and Coco just ate out of my hand! I fed them grass through the mesh and Pumpkin wheeked like mad and hesitated for a while, then came running up! Coco then joined her and they ate out of my hand for about 5 minutes! This has made me so happy :)

So pleased that you finally have them with you and can give them all the care and attention they deserve. I hope they continue to do well and look forward to more fab photos x

Well today the sows went back to work in a lovely hutch I set up for them :) All are fully recovered and happy in their new house!
I still have the 2 boars, Rusty and Ringo. They are so skittish - they have barely had any human contact before I had them. They are also very skinny - I guess mum had difficulty producing milk and healing herself at the same time. So the next mission is to get the boys to learn to trust me, and get weighing them everyday and trying to feed them up!
I am worried I might get attached to these boys...and end up keeping them...

That's great news about the sows. You must be so chuffed. I hope your workplace have appreciated your efforts.
Good luck getting the boys to feel comfortable. :)
