January is always a slow month for adoptions (while the weather is cold and dark) but this year January has been a bumper month for admissions to the rescue for us. We have had taken in piggies surrendered for a variety of reasons from changes in circumstances (humans), fall outs (piggies), allergies (humans), neglect and also to help out other rescues.

We are truly full to bursting at the moment with over 30 piggies in our care. We also have a growing waiting list of people wanting to surrender their piggies to the rescue.

Some piggies will remain with us forever as they are elderly or have health conditions. Others will need some TLC and rehabilitation before we can think about trying to rehome them. One has been neutered and is waiting patiently for his time to meet sows. And others are advertised on the website and on the forum patiently waiting for a new forever home.

If you or anyone you know is thinking of getting piggies please consider us or your other local rescues before going to a pet shop or breeder. Our piggies have been properly sexed, vet checked and handled. They will have had their nails clipped and mites treatment if they need it. We provide support and help to all our adopters after they take their piggies home. We can help with bonding. We put the welfare of the piggies first. Happy piggies make happy owners. If you can offer a home to any of our piggies awaiting adoption you will not only change their lives forever but you will also help free up valuable rescue space for other piggies who need to come into the rescue.

Please spread the word about the good work we do and help,us find good homes for our piggies.

Many thanks. Helen and all the team.

I liked this post because from The Potteries GPR because of the wonderful work they do not because they are full! It's sad there are so many piggys coming up for rehoming whatever the reason their current homes no longer want them. Keep up the good work The Potteries GPR.

I wish I lived closer and I wish I had space for more piggies.
Well done to all of you for the work you do with rescue piggies.

I have space for more piggies. I have to work something out logistically. Do you have many sow pairs?

We might be in a position to bring the girls dating for a husboar in a month or two (if he doesn't mind the thought of 5 rather bossy ladies) and Marley might like to add a wifepig or two as Lily isn't always in the mood for his advances - he is still quite nervous around unfamiliar bottoms.

Love the potteries, I hope you get some good adopters soon but I know the piggies are in the best care with you until then x

Hi @mshappy89 at the moment the rescue has Honey and Angel (a mother and daughter pair) ready for adoption/rehoming at the moment. There will also be others over the coming weeks/months (I’m not sure exactly who is in the pipeline). If you are interested in adopting from the rescue please email Helen and Mandy - [email protected] or message them through the rescue’s Facebook page. Home checks can be done remotely for distance adoptions. Here is the link to the Facebook page. The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue

@Countrylass I know that we have a newly neutered boar called Theo who is now sitting out his “safe” period and isn’t yet in the website. There is also another young boar (victim of bullying in a boar trio) who is likely to be neutered shortly. If you are interested then please message the rescue either through the Facebook page The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue or via email - [email protected] and register your interest. Helen and others of us do supervised bonding sessions at the rescue.
