Betsy
Anniversary Herd
I had to make the hard decision this morning to help my darling Thea over the Rainbow Bridge. Last night, it was obvious that she was either going to cross over on her own or need some help today. Being the Queen of Poop, she did one last poop as the vet was taking her out the back. She had just turned 8 and a half.
I adopted Thea and her friend Lexi (who I hope was waiting for her at The Rainbow Bridge) 4 and a half years ago by private arrangement. Thea was very scared when she came to live in Betsy Towers, and would run away from everything and hated being picked up. I handfed her and Lexi their veggie dindins every night for 6 months while talking nonsense to them so that they would gradually learn that I wasn't going to hurt them. After about a year Thea slowly began to trust me eventually turning into a cuddle monster who absolutely adored cuddles especially when some coriander was involved.
When her friend decided to toddle off to the Rainbow Bridge, Thea was on her own for a little while and wasn't happy. I adopted mother and daughter Misty and Bramble from Mandy's Guinea Pig Rescue and they lived happily side by side for a year (I did try to bond them but it didn't work as I think Misty was still in "I must protect my baby" mode because Bramble was only 4 months old). Lilli (guinea pig boarder) said that she was sure they would all get on as they would chat at the divider and wonder where they had gone if one was out for a cuddle. I told Lilli to try it and they all got on like a house on fire and have ever since. They were all in together in the Penthouse Suite of Betsy Towers for just over a year. As soon as Misty and Bramble turned up Thea perked up as she had been lonely on her own and when they were bonded she was like a different piggy.
Thea did her stint as Shop Steward of the GPU becoming a force to be reckoned with and dishing out advice to piggies whose Slaves were clearly in need of proper training. She learnt it all from Founder of the GPU The Ever Beautiful Betsy. Thea passed on her knowledge of the workings of the GPU to Miss Bramble.
Have fun at the Rainbow Bridge Thea and say hi to Lexi and the others for me.
