After Ellen Rusper, the little back-to-back pregnant mummy I'd fallen in love with and had reserved at East Peckham Guinea Pig Rescue since January, unexpectedly died from a heart attack during her pregnancy watch in February, I was back to square one as far as my feisty fallen-out peru lady Tegan was concerned. She is too dominant to have come to an agreement with Hafren and Iola and was too rough when I tried her with my special foster, frail stroke survivor Nimue (who has sadly died from further strokes not long ago). :(

So we are off for a dating spree at a RSCPA Walsall's fosterer's this afternoon, who have four boars that have just cleared their mandatory 6 weeks post-neutering operation safetly wait and are now adoptable instead. Wish us luck! Tegan is not the easiest piggy to bond, but I sincerely hope that with four young potential suitors there is somebody she clicks with!

I have been thinking about this, but hadn't realised the thread was up.... I am guessing at 5:00 pm you'll either be feeling relieved or disappointed.....
Fingers crossed that little Miss Naughty has found a husboar who she likes and who will put up with her naughtiness! x

Say hello to Gethin (formerly Murray)! I am happy to say that husboar #1 has worked out. The other boys are all more dominant, so decided to start with most submissive.

He and Tegan are now in a bonding pen in the kitchen to let them sort out the worst of the dominance after acceptance has happened at the rescue, but in view of the 1 hour drive, we took them home in different carriers (Gethin in the carrier that Tegan had arrived in).

While there are plenty of nips from Tegan for timid little Gethin, Tegan is still on the mild side of dominance as far as she is concerned. This is a phase they have to work through as unpleasant as it is for us to watch; it is at the heart of establishing a relationship.

PS: Gethin means "dusky, dark-skinned" in Welsh.

PS: As the foster lady for the RSPCA Walsall is the same I rehomed Nerys and Nia from nearly 7 years ago, we had a bit of catching up to do. I took some pics of the old girls with me to show her.

They seem to be getting on well I've got everything crossed for a happy partnership.
Gethin certainly suits that gorgeous boar, he has lovely markings.

I left them sleeping peacfully next to each other and came back to find them tussling and teeth chattering - and it was Tegan pushing the buttons a bit too far... :(

They are now separated in the bonding pen to cool down. :mal:

Oh no.... It was all looking so promising there.
I really hope they can sort it out. Don't you just wish you could tell them that they are spoiling their own chance of companionship when they get like that :hug:

Again, I'm sorry for your losses... It's been a hard year for the forum piggies...
As for the bonding, I just hope it ends up well! Tegan, be nice to Gethin, he looks like a nice chap!
(Also love the name of both of them. I just have a thing for Welsh names )

I think I may have had Tegan's perfect partner, my Suki is such a wuss, she squeals the minute Ziggy goes near here & does exactly what she's told, she's so submissive :( Will you try a bath for them ? x

oh goodness! Tegan sounds so much like my Jemima.... what a nightmare! Hope they settle down again

What a little Madam! Hoping today is going better. x x Your new arrival is soooo handsome
