Just thought I would ask some questions on these skinny pigs I sadly keep seeding in pet stores. Are many of them over bred to achrvive the no hair? Do they tend to have more health problems.
I'm sure there are responsible breeders out there, but my concern is how many people are going to want the new craze pet and do instant buys then drop them off at the shelter when no longer wanted.

I don't own one myself but there are quite a few skinny owners on here. They were initially bred to be used in labs. As far as genetics and inbreeding go I have no idea, but it is worrying that they are being sold in pet shops as they do require more attention than hairy pigs and can get ill more easily (I think...correct me if I'm wrong!). I would worry that inexperienced owners would then just go and buy them without the correct knowledge of their needs.
