The Tabs And Thumbles Bonding Thread

Tabitha and Thumbelina currently live together in what was supposed to be a temporary cage slap bang in the middle of the living room. Tabs has been a bit dominant when she meets other pigs through the grids during floortime and chattered a bit so we have held off on the bonding. The last few weeks she has been much better and very interested in Mabel's little herd of 4 through the grids so tonight she had laptime with Mabel and it went really well. No chattering, some grooming and some snuggling. Next up will be Emma. I think Toffee and Truffle will be ok as Katie skinny squeezed into their cage the other day during the cleans and they loved her. Thumbles is easy going too. Thought I would start this thread to chart their progress. Hope it goes ok as they will have so much more room to run about. We are hopefully adopting another pair in the next few weeks (another mum and daughter like Truffle and Toffee) who will hopefully join Ellie and Barley.

Well that was a non starter. Put them in the hall in neutral territory and Mabel started chattering almost straight away which after a while set Tabs off too, and it all went downhill from there. Thumbles was doing well until she cornered poor Truffle who lunged slightly. Will have to have a rethink and keep them as a pair for now. Very proud of Truffle and Toffee though who were really curious and not aggressive until cornered. Shows their mum and daughter bond is still there too as Toffee went to Truffle when she was worried. Proud of Emma who was good as gold once she came out from hiding behind the curtain. I had actually thought she would be the issue.

We have Maud and Robyn arriving next weekend to hopefully join Ellie and Barley so will see how that goes before attempting any bonding with Tabs and Thumbles again. May just keep them as a pair. All our groups may change over the next year or so anyway as sadly a few of our girls are getting on a bit. Hate to think of it that way though.
