eeeek my piggies love carrot. My rabbits never get carrot but I didn't know about the pigs! O they will not be pleased tomorrow!

Don't worry my oldie had carrot every day & she lived to the ripe old age of 7 :)

I would maybe reduce the amount you give them gradually, perhaps only a centimetre slice each then cut it back to three or four times a week :))

So don't go cold turkey lol.....suppose that wouldn't help their wee tummys. A gradual reduction it is....thanks x

Actually, you can feed them runner bean leaves and they love them ( far more than the actual beans ). Also try chickweed, plantains and groundsel ( but make VERY sure you can identify your wild plants correctly ).

As for blackberries: you can feed them the very young tips of the bramble leaves in Spring ( these will be a very fresh green, small and soft rather than prickly).
Hope that helps. :)

I'm surprised at this as all the books I read said to give beans but never the plant, which I assume would include the leaves? ?/

I'm a bit confused now lol!

My piggies mostly live on a diet of wagg guinea pig food and some nuggets too and hay mostly and get just a few greens each day. Though I must cut down on carrot judging by this thread!

I must admit it was the first time I ever knew they weren't too good for piggies in 11 years of having them :red Mine loved them! However I will definitely not feed so many if I get some more piggies in the future :)

well, they can eat young pea shoots - you can even buy them in the supermarket for salads but obviously it's a lot cheaper to just pick the young tops off your own. I've got sugar snaps in my garden, eay to grow and easy to collect seed from - you'll never need to buy another packet.
