Hey all, making this thread to post about my two piggies and any problems that appear. Here's a bit of history and some starter questions!

Both have had lice once when my sister owned them, can't remember which but they are over that now.

Tabby is a pink eyed white, she looks like she should have been a Himalayan as she has little smudges on her nose and feet. She has a small seemingly fairly mobile very round flat lump on her tummy, just below her ribs, should that worry me?

Tilly was on anti-biotic (Septrin) most of her life for an ear infection which as left her with a head tilt and habit of walking round in circles to the right, she was also on ear drops for a while too.

The vet suggested no pro-biotic, I'm concerned at how small her poos are, what pro-biotic could people recommend?

I have only just taken her off the anti-biotic since she has come into my care (I believe it was unnecessary to keep her on them and the vet told my sister she could stop the anti-biotic if she kept a close eye on her, she didn't have the time, so when I got them I decided it would be best for her to go back to normal!)

She is doing fine, no head shaking or ear scratching. HOWEVER I looked in her ear today, I don't remember if I saw this before or not, but there seems to be a tiny amount of white, dry stuff in her ear, seemingly going deeper into her ear I'm not sure and it looks like it might be blocking her ear, should I try and remove this? is it a sign of infection returning?

I really cant remember if it was there before, but, honestly I haven't taken a torch to peek in her ears before I usually just use daylight. The other ear doesn't have this white stuff. But I don't know if that's just been left over since my sister had her and didn't do as much care as perhaps she needed.

Hello and welcome, i hope i may be able to help.

- Tabby's lump could be anything from a fatty lump, a cyst or a mass, but without getting a vet to take a sample you cannot ever tell what it is. The goldstandard practice for this would be to get the vet to sample it and send it away for analysis, but its up to you.

- Tilly maybe could have some probiotic while on antibiotics, but there is no reason to have it while not. What is her diet, good quality diets will usually have some sorts of probiotics in them and will make her poops much more healthy. A good probiotic is bio-lapis, but there are plenty out there.

- How long was Tilly on the ear drops for? Could the white stuff be from this? Could you get a picture at all? If in doubt get a vet to take a look properly.

hohum, rechecked Tillys ear, it's the infection coming back I'm sure because it's got worse and more gooy and wet, that makes me sad, because Tilly and I don't particularly enjoy doing the anti-biotics and I think it makes her go a little nutty because of it. ARGH, so, going to Jason Burgess in quegley I think, if anyone can suggest a better vet please do. I live in Gloucester so, any reviews on vets around here would be great.

I'll be taking both of them. Thanks for your suggestions Abi, just a real shame it's probably going to be the infection again, really wish we could get this thing nailed so the poor critter can have some peace from all the medication!
