So, here I was thinking that a litter tray was for poos and pees....how wrong was I.

We have a corner litter tray lined with fitch and hay on top. When I first introduced it Toby and Barney did a few poos in it. Then they changed their minds and would just sleep in it. Now when I clean it out and put fresh hay in it they like to stand beside the litter tray and eat the hay while pooping beside it!

Litter tray is now a hay bowl!

I have a funny feeling that I failed in the litter training and they know exactly what they are doing! mallethead

Haha. My lot wee and poo all over their cage (which is a plastic thing with a grid top). I am planning to give them a puppy pen run with correx base and was hoping to put a few litter trays in ... for them to ignore haha.

A giant hay bowl! :))

My girls aren't litter trained but they tend to toilet more in certain areas.
Esme is funny when she free-ranges and isn't weeing out of her tunnel on to the floor rolleyes
She will go for a run, then come back on the fleece and puppy pads to poo, then she will run around again and if i leave the lap pad on the floor at the other side of the room she will use that as a toilet. This is without training and she is generally very good, in the cage they don't care!

Mine have very much their toilet corners in the hay trays while eat and sleep in the others. However, I have a couple, who like nothing better than to move the hay out and create their own bed next to the hay tray...

Mine just seem to think that the whole hutch is their toilet corner! Typical men - just making a mess wherever they go.... rolleyes

Mine do most of their wees in the litter tray but the quarret poo everywhere

I have see a few of your posts where you say your piggies pee in litter trays and I'm very jealous! Is it because you put your litter trays under their hideys and if not how did you get them to use the litter tray?

This is exactly how mine are! One pair use the hay tray for it's intended purpose, to hold large amounts of their beloved hay, and almost never get in it or wee/poop in it. The other pair wee in it all the time and Struan empties it out then sleeps on the pile of hay :)

Mine are unbelievably good as they pee in the trays and there are only a few 'presents' left in the hall if they are in there x
