So following Bumbles passing a couple of weeks ago, the bonding pit came out of the loft in a vain attempt to integrate Issy with Jemima and Peter. When Bumble was here and I had all 4 of them together Jemima and Issy had a fall out and blood was drawn so I have been very cautious.

After nearly two full days in the bonding pit (and about 3 bottles of white vinegar used on cleaning and neutralising the hutch!) I felt comfortable putting them back in the hutch (with no fleece beds for them to fight over this time!). I haven't handled them for the best part of a week as I'm trying to let them sort things out without disruption but it seems that asbo pig aka Jemima is no longer top pig... don't get me wrong... she doesn't seem to have handed over the crown willingly but...

Sweet, small, shy, timid, extra-toed Isobel has been spotted having first dibs on veg and headbutting the other two out of the way...

Never in a million years did I imagine this would be the outcome! After all these years it's a reminder that piggies can always surprise us!

Fingers crossed everything will be harmonious in your hutch, sounds good so far.

Yes very different to the last time they were together so I am hopeful. I really don't want to end up with two pairs again as I think Peter's fat lumps are getting to him (he's done a small amount of rumbling but mostly teeth chattering when the girls crash into him while he's trying to eat so I think he is struggling to stay comfortable) and I don't want to feel forced into the constant of introducing a new pig while I'm still grieving the last, I don't think my heart can keep taking it :)

Hope they carry on to do well! My (used to be) quiet baby Mallow was kept in check by my dominant sow Crunchie, but she slowly dominated my eldest Fudge. She now rules the roost and is turning into a cheeky chunky madam! I also thought she'd be a small girl.. Shes already larger than my other two adults!

Now now Boss, there's no need for that rumblestrutting! :))

Great news Kel, I hope peace continues to reign and that Peter is ok x

That's good news, and fingers crossed that it all stays just fine. It sounds like it will. I am in the trap that you speak of, with two pairs of piggies that should, in theory, get on, but don't, so it's great that you now have one herd :)

I'm the boss, and I've got her permission to say so! :))

Great news Kelly, I hope it stays quiet and harmonious :)
