I really need to stop going to shelters intending to just donate and/or buy goods. At the very least I should avoid the actual areas where the animals are - just to look I say. I ended up getting my last pooch by donating to the RSPCA & then deciding to have a peek at the animals. Now I've gone & done the same at my local piggy shelter. Went to buy hay & piggy Xmas pressies & guess what? I am about to adopt these 2 boy piggles. http://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/303720

Hope to have them here after 9th November. It's going to take me that long to get the son & family to move out to their new home, organise space, cage etc. I have to have the new boys' cage ready & the rescue has to approve it before I can adopt, but everything else they found satisfactory.

They don't reserve animals because people change their minds & someone else could have adopted them in the interval. This is how I got my poochie. She was actually reserved but I left my name just in case & sure enough the other people changed their minds. If I hadn't left my name she might still be in the shelter. Anyway, as I completely understand this but really wanted these 2 specific boys I offered to pay up front one months upkeep for them & cover any vet bills that may arise & the shelter agreed!

Now to hunt down that perfect cage. May have to resort to ordering from the UK again.as I have hunted down only 2 possibilities here. Am seeing one today & the other depends on my getting the right table to put it on.

Oh what gorgeous boys they are! I'm so happy for you. Donny and Mason are going to have a wonderful life with you.

They're gorgeous. I don't think you should stop going into the animal section of shelters ! These guys will be very glad you did.

Oh I saw Donny and Mason before!
They are very cute!
Isn't it awful what their owner did? I'm just happy they have been bonded well into adulthood as I couldn't go through the worry of teenage hormonal boars again.

Oh they look gorgeous. Hope you can bear the wait!
I'm coping by shopping! For the pigglywigs that is.

Today I went to check on the cage I was interested in. Another shelter I shop from happens to be just down the road so went in there to see what I could buy for my soon to be new piggles. The adoptables were well over on the other side but after I finished my shopping I had to have a wander over. Aaaaargh so many darling piggies! I am planning to move to another suburb in 2016 & have now decided I will need to buy a 4 bedroom home so I can have room for more piggies. I envy @Wiebke with all her many rescues. I don't know how she manages to put them all in one room and still make it look neat & tidy.

They are too cute! Good luck finding the perfect cage for them.
Yes I did! Got a 140 x 69 on wheels. Had to order it though but supposed to be in at the end of the month so still on track to get the boys in November.

Your boys are gorgeous!

Wiebke's room often looks like a bomb site coming up to cleaning day (which is usually taking two days for the sake of not ending up with smelly fleece and towel Alps in the kitchen). Hay and poos get everywhere during roaming time, which each group has daily in turn... It is a bit easier now that they have a dedicated room.

I don't know whether it is any consolation to you or not, but my piggies have kind of accumulated gradually. At first I had to stick to just a couple we could travel with for regular weekends at my elderly mother-in-law's for several years. I could only realise my childhood dream of having a proper piggy group (the Tribe) five years ago; but admittedly, I have done so with a vengeance!
As long as you are sure that you can cope (especially with vet cost) and build up slowly, then you should be fine, @Lilly .

Oh glad you managed to find a nice cage. I don't know how you can wait so long for the piggies to arrive! I would be going mad with impatience!

They're lovely boys, am so excited for you and great that you found the perfect cage.

They are stunning and going to have the most perfect home with you and your boys!
