They don't like celery.

I went to Netto today and i saw some celery in there for 59p and i thought i'd get some for me pigs as they haven't had it before. So i gave them a celery stick each and they kinda sniffed it but then turned there noses up at it.
So now i've got celery in being useless :( Oh well...or my mum said that maybe Honey my syrian hamster might like some so i'm going to give her some tonight when she's awake. And if she doesn't like then my mum can have it lol because i don't like it.

Have you ever tried celery and peanut butter? (For you, not the piggies!) It's well tasty, and doesn't taste like celery!

I've only got one piggy here at the moment that doesn't like celery - the others are always thrilled to eat his share though!
 
mu 2 wouldn't touch celery or cucumber untill I cut it into strips a couple of inches long, dont ask me why I just think they like being awkward! It may be worth a try it saves throwing it away if it works.
 
You could try chopping it into small slices - it may make them eat if not then your mum is a luckey person with all that celery ,lol
 
I don't mind it cooked either. Very strange I love green peppers cooked and raw! They are ** bomb! drool
 
All of my girls love celery even my 2 newly adopted ones. I do cut it into inch pieces though, but they will throw everything else out of their food bowls to get at it. I'd keep trying or alternatively eat it yourself - it's supposed to be good for you :)

Yeah, i suppose i could give it a try by chopping it up into smaller bits. i dunno why they have to be so ackward about it lol i mean they can eat carrots without me having to chop it up. Oh well..but yeah, i'll give it a go. oh and i'll also just cut the leaves of and see if they eat those.
 
Is the celery very dark green or almost yello in colour?

My lot LOVE the inner stalks of celery (the heart part which is lighter) and will make do with the rest fine but the darker the celery goes the less they like it...

maybe try them with the inner part first...
 
Both my boys and girls love celery, especially the leaves though, they go barmy for those!:))
 
I'm so surprised so many peoples piggies dont love celery! mine adore it. They get excited every morning when i bring them into the kitchen whilst we eat our breakfast as thats their morning treat, and their noses go mad looking for it if i havent got it out!

Although, alot of piggie on here like pepper but mine do not, they are quite fussy and i can only give them a handful of vegetables!

Well it really is because they don't like it and not because it's not cut up and it's too big lol i chopped some up for them today and nope, they've ignore it. I'mglad i haven't just got celery in and i have lettuce and cucumber otherwise i wouldn't know what else to give them.

You can guess what my hamster was like....she took some right away! :))

:)) I'm the same! And i pinch some carrot too! And pepper.....lol. Oh and sometimes lettuce. And cabbage.....:(|)
 
the piggies have taken over our fridge, i've got a fridge freezer in storage and we've decided that when we move, the piggies will get their own fridge (just like now really!) and we'll have the fridgefreezer, but i'm sure they'll impose on ours even then! ours love peppers, ruby salad and broccoli the best

One of my boys goes metal for pepper ,lol as soon as he get a sniff of pepper he starts popcorning and weeking,bless him ,lol

all of my girls do that! but then they start wheeking like crazy whenever i go to another room, they just think "yay,mommy,you know what it's all about,give me some gear!" LOL. veggies are like some kind of drug to them. Sonny on the other hand is a bit nervous of veggies and hay, but he's getting there. x
 
Celestyn didn't like apples now she does because she saw Zafron eating she must have thought: 'hey maybe that red and yellow thing is ok to eat'. I always let Zafron try new things first because he is more accepting but Celestyn doesn't seem to want to try something until she sees Zafron eating it.

Mine love it. So much so I grow it myself in the garden!x)

I bought cress yesterday and I'm going to have to have loads of egg and cress sarnies cos the piggies snobbed it. :( The carrot leaves, tho, made them go NUTS... Popcorning, running (Bertie's 4 and V unfit), sparkling eyes, the lot... oh, no, I forgot, Bertie was climbing on my foot and Finlay was doing the circus trick on his hind paws :(|)
 
Mine love a bit of celery but it's very strong smelling so I wouldn't blame them if they didn't. As for celery and peanut butter..ugh! lol :))
