i just got two female gps and they r fighting so loudly! they run aroud the cage and make this sqeaking noiz! i'm rlly scared! it's late at nite and i dun know whut 2 do! plz help me! they r from differnt places but r in ** same cage...?

You might need to separate them and try bonding them more slowly. Did you get them separately and just bung them into the cage together? If so, maybe try introducing them more slowly. Of course they might just be doing the dominance thing. Have they been going at each physically?

well one trys to get away from the other one and just sit on one side of the cage, but the other 1 chaces her

it's 3 in the morning and i'm rlly scared and i dunno what 2 do! :0

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If you haven't had your guineas for very long they are probably sorting out who is the dominant personality. If they are not actually fighting with loud teeth chattering and just are chasing each other and having a little bit of a squabble, then it's quite normal. Make sure they have two of everything (hidey holes, bowls, water bottles etc) and as much space as you can - guineas need as much space as you can give them and often have cabin fever in tiny cages.

Try looking at this page for normal dominance behaviour: http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm and it will describe what is normal and acceptable and what any danger signs are. If you see them actually fighting or have blood in the cage they will need to be separated and likely may need a trip to the vet to ensure no serious damage has been done.

If one is stopping the other from using a water bottle, eating or getting into or coming out of a hidey hole etc then you may have a bully on your hands which can often be eased with the space and two of everything way.

On a different matter, may I ask that when typing a post on here, we request that our members refrain from using text speak as it's very difficult for others to read (as per the Rules here: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=23495 )

Thank you :) Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask away.

I was having the same problems..... They weren't biting, but one mounts the other, she doesn't try and hump her, she just stays on top of her until the other runs away. She let's her drink, but she's a bit protective over the veggies?

Alora, try two bowls of veg if you don't already, I know it's a pain but it really helps :)

My two boys do the still mounting thing occasionally, its usually followed by a gentle earwashing by the mounter which is considered a bonding ritual apparently! They get a face on and charge around after each other, and have a few nose-offs, but have never fought that we know of. Occasionally they may need to be separated for a few hours, but that little amount of time is usually sufficient for them to calm down and get back to normal!

My two girls fight. Well it's Cookie who is mean to Maisey really. I have to separate them. They are in two different cages. If they lived together. Cookie probably wouldn't leave Maisey alone without hitting her face. They come out together when it's floor time and run around ok but Cookie still hits her sometimes. But cookie is very dominent sometimes with me! lol
