Well, after spending a couple of days hopping, Gibson is now walking OK (when he thinks you're not looking).. We have an open plan kitchen/living room, and when he sees he's being watched he starts hopping (though very unconvincingly!).

Then on Friday night, we were on the sofa when we heard this odd noise, it was Gibson, making a horrible noise when he was breathing - like an inhaling laugh, really strange. Think Jimmy Carr but with less comedy.. I got him out, wrapped him in a woolly hat (he loves them) and cuddled him, he was still making this awful noise. My partner Googled it and it sounded (literally) like a URI. Of course at 9.30pm it would have been hard to find a vet. I was so worried.

After around 30 minutes of hugging and worrying, he coughed, really loud, then was chewing.. then his breathing was silent/normal. He preceded to stretch out, give me a little nip, and wee - the biggest wee ever - and then slept for half an hour before going back 'home'..

Honestly....! The worry is terrible!

It sounds like he was hooting, as a cough often follows. It could be he had some dust up his nose. Is he ok otherwise, no laboured breathing?

Every morning Higgins hoovers down his food so fast he ends up having a little cough (they're not starved!).
Gibson is much better now - it's like nothing happened, he probably wondered what he'd done to deserve bedtime cuddles! His breathing is fine, I have been watching just to be sure - they'd just had their dinner, so I'm thinking something got stuck perhaps?
I will just use it as an excuse to spend even more time sitting in with them..! :)

Hi @David Pet Lover mine get celery twice a week, I chop it quite small (around 1 cm), and I've read plenty of horror stories about the string in it, but I think this has been deemed a myth, given that they eat (usually without incident!) long strands of hay/grass, so I wouldn't worry too much :)

Thank you. When I read inhale I thought :yikes:

Oh @Betsy mine know before I'm back from the shops whether I've bought blueberries or not! They are fiends for them!
