I am ever so worried though, they are TERRIFIED! :0

They keep hiding behind their bed snuggling with each other, I managed to hold one for quite some time but then he got scared, the other just wouldn't let me near him at all. Was Teddy actually who ran off.

Toffee is the one looking at the camera, Teddy is hiding behind! x)

I have made them a dish of celery, tomatoes and cucumber and they haven't touched it. I have turned the light off and left the room now to let them settle.

Please tell me this behaviour is normal. 8...

On a lighter note, the breeder gave me a pedigree certificate and a care sheet. -c

I'm sure its normal behavior. New home, new smells, new human - Its alot to take in for such a small creature! Give them time and they will come around - they will find their confidence - they just need time to settle in.
They are gorgeous!

its normal for them to be scared of you my boys were scared of me.the first night they didnt come out until night time when we were all in bed.my advice is leave them alone for a bit.what i do is creep down when I'm walking to their cage so that I'm at their level (ive even been known to crawl along the floor!ha ha!)they dont see you as such a big scary giant then.i also spend time sitting in front of their cage talking to them gently

I have posted this thread about how to settle new guinea pigs together with some other useful information on your other thread http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=36239, but it's all completely normal - guinea pigs are animals of prey with the matching instincts. On top of that, you've got babies who have never been away from home. You did the right thing to let them calm down, but have some food whenever they get hungry. Don't worry about the boys not getting enoguh foo d for a day or two - they won't die and make more than up for it soon!

They will settle soon; give them at least a couple of days to get their bearings!

Please read the other info threads as well - they will help you setting your boys up properly and launch you into your life of "piggyhood".

Definitely normal. They will settle in.

The best thing you can do is to give them space for a few days. Let them get used to their surroundings and the smell and the routine.

Guineas take quite a while to get used to things, Don't worry!

that's so normal! all five of mine were like this at first! our oldest girls were the worst for it! but i think they sensed our excited yet nervous first piggie nerves. they'll come out their shells soon enough. they are beautiful!

Aww their gorgeous.
They will settle down in time, its scary for them at the moment.
Make sure you talk to them as you go round doing the day to day things so they get used to your voice.

Which one is which? You seem to have got one silver and one lemon agouti coloured boy there.

Toffee has lemon on him, I knew Teddy was different and have just realised he is silver! The mum looks like Toffee and the dad is a full silver agouti.

awww lovly pigs, when i first got mine my mum said just to leave them to settle in then talk to them gently and once they are used to you re voice pick them up and brush them to bond with you!p
