Olivitree
Junior Guinea Pig
I'm a bit concerned about how much my piggy likes to eat that I have no idea about, often he'll eat things I think are just daft, like dead leaves in the garden and whole twigs. Heres a list of what he likes to eat, can people tell me whats good and whats bad?
Romaine lettuce
Celery
Cucumber
Carrot(if it's cut up and the right sort)
Parsley
Basil
Grass
Dandelion leaves
Burgess Excel guinea pig hard food
Hay
Tomatoes
Runner beans
Orange segments
Apple
Bannana(sometimes the skin O.o)
Nectarine
Leaves and twigs from Silver birch, Cob nut tree and Hawthorn and leaves from one tree I can't identify.(note none of this is my choice but he gets very desperate if I take it off him)
Nuts, almonds and cashews.(I have been told they're a choking hazard and too high in protein but it's very rare he gets them and I break them up for him.)
Buttercups (again I try to stop him as I've heard they're poisonous)
Generally, I feed him what he wants to eat, as I figure, he knows what he needs more than I do, however, some things bother me, like the buttercups and I'm not sure if they're ok for him to eat!
I'd like to mention he's 6 years old so what I have been feeding him obviously isn't deadly, so I know I'm not being terrible to him at least! But I'd still like some advise as he's getting older, I need to know if theres anything I should add or take away from his diet and whether I should give him more of somethings and less of others.
