Ok well I popped in P@H to get a new Chube for the boys and had a look at the bubba a piggies xoxo they are always well looked after in this P@H but I like to check! Anyhow the 'pet' lady was talking to a couple and their kids about the piggies. The husband seemed on the ball and asked 'so they boys will get on ok will they when they get older?' well she replied 'yeah they will be fine no problems and the y are the same litter so they are brotheres it is much easier than introducing another one at a later date' so i actively frowned and waited he said 'oh so being brothers helps' she said 'definately they all grown up together so have a good bond'. well i was patient but when there was a suitable pause I said' I'm really sorry to interupt but one thing about boys is that when the hit 6 months ish the hormones kick in and there is normally dominance issues, bit like teenagers they can get through it but if they really fight you need to be aware that they will have to be seperated and find them friends.' the guy was on the ball and I kept it light he said well it;s like any tennagers really which we laughed about etc. he then asked are girlsd any better and I explained that they can have dominance issues but they are much better and explained about the setup in the wild etc. the wife asked me how many I had and I told her and said I was a bit of a nsucker for a sob story etc smiled and went to pay for my things. I just couldn't not say anything but i was good and didn't say anything about how they should rescue or anything (did mention most of my boys were rescue in passing though :x) don't think I was too pushy just tried to act like I was not correcting just adding on. couldn't help it!! :x:(|)

d/w i made p@h angry today i think too .. they refused to sell me a gunie pig *** i looked at a rabbitt.... basicly acused my of abusing animals despite not evn knowing me :( i was fairly hurt and just retorted ok ill get my piggies in my norm place where they actualy know about them and their mum etc... oh and y cant i buy a bunny and a gunie ? i have 2 hutches... but shes liek ** confused * loked at a rabbit and want gunie pig . lol i was jsut wellit s cutre lop who wouldnt go look at it if its sniffing you.

lol, i quite often pop into pah and hang out by the pigs, correcting the staff! it makes me chuckle just how clueless they are on some things. I got chatting to some of them and explained a few things. they know me now. :(|)

When I put my boarding poster up in my local one, the guy said he had to ask me a few questions before it could go up, so they were only advertising reputable people. Which was fair enough.

The funniest part however was when I had answered everything correctly, I said I wanted to ask HIM some questions...and he got them all wrong hehe! He is a really nice guy though and was genuinely keen to learn, and when I popped in there again he came up to me and asked me something else!

I only like that particular P@H though...the other two near here are AWFUL.

thats the thing the ones i *** been in down here do want to learn and are quite good. probably asked this before but where on SE are you we're probably talking bout the same store! :)) i am in kent

Ooh dear, glad you advised the family though it sounded like you werent too pushy just helpful and adding in your experience and advice :)

My partner won't go into P@H with me, he says I'm embarassing because i'm always pointing things out to the staff mallethead but the last time i went their was a new member of staff who has her own piggies, 15 sows who live in a herd, and we had a good chat :) i haven't been in there for over a month so it will be interesting to see if her knowledge has rubbed off on the other staff

I got seriously frowned at by a member of staff last time I was in there. Someone was buying one GP and a tiny cage ... it is hard not to say anything! OH always stays in the car. DD just blushes.

good on you they are clueless I'm preety certain my sow zoe is pregnant and i bought her from there but only time will tell x

I'm right near J7 of the M25, so just inside Surrey and not too far at all from Kent! I can get to Crawley, Croydon and Redhill P@H easily from here but only ever go to the Redhill one these days after run ins with staff at the other two rolleyes

Well done you at least it saves one of them being returned in a few months once they dont get on!
I tend to do this as well without thinking, we went in last week and i happened to say rather loudly while the new woman sales assistant was showing a family rabbits, "i hope none of these ones have been sexed wrong and are sold pregnant," the family left while we were paying for our hay, without a rabbit! i know that its their job but she was barely looking to check and said oh we always know the sexes never get it wrong! pfffff

Maybe you could offer to train the staff up on guinea pigs for a discount in store :))

i actually did think about it but having only had piggies for 3 years might be a bit cheeky BUT i spend my life on here so probably know tons more than the staff! :)) I understand they have money to make which although i don't like it i can understand. so maybe i could do it without beign too preachy! :)
