So despite hours of research, I seem to have spent more money than I wanted to and got less than I planned.

I wanted to make three reversible liners, so I bought six lengths of fleece, sadly had to be plain as the patterned was over budget for me. Nice colours though!

Then I looked everywhere and read the details for every washable mattress protector. They have now come and although they are fabric, the back is waterproof...which I guess means I can’t flip them over. So I am actually planning to cut and sew the protectors to fit the cage but not bother attaching them to the fleece. Can’t see the point and my sewing machine needle will thank me. Does this sound OK? I assume that’s all I’ll need for the C&C cage, nothing else underneath.

Am going to start prewashing three of the fleeces for the linings and use the other three for other piggie projects, including some wee pads. Three spare lengths is quite a lot!

It turns out I could have got two ready made liners online for the same amount. I had thought this was OK, as I was making three, but now I wish I’d just bought some.

When I move my piggies into the garage at our new house (hopefully in 2-3 weeks) I'll have them in the run with a waterproof mattress protector and a single layer of fleece on the top. I have an offcut of lino to put on the garage floor for an extra bit of insulation too. :) Mine currently are outside piggies living in a hutch so I'll put the hutch in the garage and they will be put back in the hutch at night.

My pigs are all on fleeces I made some with the mattress protector and then I've put old towels under them for a bit more protection then I got some proplex witch i got from wickes which was £3 a sheet but they are really bit sheets I got 2 sheet and was more them enough I also use bath mats no sounds daft but it works fab for the hay and food area they was on offer at poundstreacher and have waterproof bottom

Oof sorry it didn't work out to plan, thats annoying. Yeah I was looking at premade fleece liners..they are a bit dear for us just now.
We use 3x layer newspaper, a layer of towels then fleece on top doubled over and a baby fleece usually at the sleeping end..works out ok and we usually get 4 days max out of it, and doesn't get stinky..our younger piggy has stopped going under it at least!
We have a 2x5 and a half c&c.

Why didn’t it work for you? Interested.
I made some that fit the base of the pen. My pigs flipped up the edge and sat underneath. I taped them down. My pigs pulled and pulled until they made a gap to slip under and sat underneath. I weighted down the edges. My pigs worked out how to flip things and sat underneath.

So I then put my mattress protector on the base and threw in a bigger piece of fleece to pull up the sides and pin. They work together and pull it until they create a gap and then guess what... they sit underneath it! So I find the gap and add another pin! Now with about 20 pins and a dozen bulldog clips they can’t get under.

Determined piggies!

I can’t wait to find out what characters our pair have. Four more sleeps!
