Thinking of getting a wee friend for Rabbie, He has been on his own for a few weeks now hes 10 weeks old, I was wondering if he would be ok with another boar around the same age, I have a 2 x 3 foot cage that is opened all the time to a 5 x 3 foot run, would this be enough room for 2 piggy's ? and another question is .... how old do piggy's be when they become adults?

Thanks in advance
Elaine.

Piggys can reproduce from just a few weeks of age. That's way before they reach adolescence :)

I wouldnt have the room for a litter this is why I'm thinking of another boar. The question about being an adult was just an enquiry really, Thanks for your inputs ^-^

Would I need to gradually let them meet (2 boars) ? I could close the cage up for the new baby and give Rabbie the run for a day or two if this is the case.

I would have him neutered much easier to pair him with a girly or two. A few months down the line two boars could start fighting much easier to pair with a sow or two.

You could try another boar, but yes there's always the possbility of them disagreeing with each other when the 'hormones' kick in more.
We just divided our cage and let them chat thru the wire divider, but also still gave them play time together with supervision, it eventually got to the stage they'd just sit together and eat happily :smitten:
Good luck let us know what you decided to do :)

I have decided to give this new piggy a loving home. I have bought another cage today in case the boys have a tiff or two.

I will let you know how i get on and hopefully have a few pictures taken over the weekend.

Thank you for all your help.
Elaine.

Good luck Elaine! :)

Can't wait to see the pigtures!

good luck :)
glad he's getting a little friend
it's amaze when boars get along
so rewarding watching them all run and popcorn around as if they were brothers

I'm all excited tonight and I wont be able to sleep cause I'm getting my new baby tomorrow. My grand daughter tells me I have to call him Fudge :o But I will let you know what hes called and pics sometime monday. :smitten:

It will be during the week now before i can go pick him up.

I called on the off chance today and I now have a new addition to my family, Hes a lovely wee piggy very friendly and affectionate he seems to be an albino cross his eyes are pink although hes brown and white with pink feet. I hope to get some photo's tomorrow. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :-*
