My guinea pig, Abby, has recently been scratching a bit more than normal. I have looked at her skin; it looks clear despite a few small scabs from her scratching. It is not dry, crusty, or scaly.

I am not sure what to do on this. I understand only a vet can tell me how to proceed, but do you have any idea what this could be? She is only a year old, so it is not due to age. She has it around her neck and both sides.

Could this be allergies, mites, fungal?

you could say mites as a first thing it makes piggies itchy and makes them loss there hair u could try bathing her in something for now and see if that helps and maybe get something later to treat her if it does turn out to be mites

yes it may be mites but why don't you post a pic of her and we will hopefully fingure out what it is. ;)

Sounds like mites to me. One of my boys had these very same symptoms, same area etc. His was cleared up with a couple of injections to kill the mites.

Yes,this does sound like mites.Ivermectin works well, but you could first of all try Gorgeous Guineas products. These are chemical free and aare very good. The delivery time is very quick as well.

it does sound like mites. treatment as the others have said, but to be sure you should take her to the vets probably., and also if we saw a pic. we could be more sure too.
