Hi I have just been bathing Brian (she's a girl, named by my son) and noticed she has a third nipple! :{ Is this common? Do any of your piggies have an extra one? And does anyone more clued up than me know if it would be functional?

Nope, definitely a nipple, it's in alignment with the one on the left....she's clearly a freak!

It just sounded so funny! Not only that but a girl called Brian! Lol!:))

LOL!So funny! I wonder were the person who posted this has disappeared too. I hope they are not offended by me laughing at the name. :x

It is not uncommon for all mammals to have extra nipples. All mammals including us have a mammary strip that runs down the tummy but different species have different amounts of fully developed teats showing - dogs and cats have the full strip, humans and pigs have just the two for example. These extras can be no more than an unworking "birthmark" that looks like the others but never produce milk (in females obviously), some will grow into fully functioning teats during milk production.

It is perfectly normal ;)
