Hi Karen354.
Just a thought, but are you sure that the water bottle isn't leaking?
I don't think gas central heating would make them really thirsty .... unless of course they have not had any access to fresh water prior to you fostering them?
Do you know any history of them before you got them?

One of our pigs can drink up to a bottle a day .. andothers hardly drink anything. Maybe they are just big drinkers, or as Goldie said, maybe they were parched when you got them.

Some guineas can be a bit OCD with their water bottle down to stress. As they are new then this could be it. I also have some big drinkers here and then others who don't touch any at all! rolleyes

I have recently bought my piggies indoors for the winter & they are definately drinking more as they always used to have full bottles whilst they were outdoors but since they've come inside they seem to have about 2 inches of water between them during the day. I've just put it down to the dryness of the room due to the central heating.

We have noticed that, with one of our piggies, Bear, that he drank an awful lot of water when he first came here, but since he's settled in he's drinking about the same as all of the others... except Boomer of course who does seem to have an OCD when it comes to his water bottle. He drinks a bottle a day and "panics" when we remove it to re-fill it. He has got a little better over the last month or two though so it could just be that some pigs take longer to settle in and see their water bottle as a bit of a "comfort thing"
