Have got our beautiful girl Sheila booked into the vets tomorrow 8...
She appears to be drinking a lot and has lost weight despite eating her usual amount of food and hay :( Also noticed a hard lump recently on her back ?/
Her behaviour is unchanged, still a bossy girl to huspig Bruce and shouting at me for noms but having researched the symptoms, could be possible diabetes or a kidney issue...
Healing vibes please, I'm worried sick about her (she's around 3 - 3.5 years old) and keep crying for my gorgeous girl :Ayociexp118:

Oh Tracey, I hope everything goes ok tomorrow. Will keep Sheila in my thoughts, healing vibes her way and hugs to you x

Hope things don't turn out to be as bad as you think they are. Sending good vibes for tomorrow xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

Sending you lots of prayers and healing vibes! I hope everything will be ok and I hope it is not too serious. x

Good luck at the vet today!

Take a urine sample if you can catch one, as it'll save time if they do want a sample!

What time's your apt? x

Thanks guys, hoping it's my usual over reaction again but just know there's something going on :...
Sheila 'seems' herself this morning, has nommed her romaine, fresh beetroot and mixed salad for brekkie, hay and her pellets, is asleep atm. Bruce huspig keeps going to her and she normally shouts at him but hasn't made any effort to rumble as usual which is unlike her :{
Will update this evening or in the morning as the vet is a distance from us but is the best we know of and have performed surgery on our other piggies with 100% success so really trust them :)

Not until 6.10pm as Russ can't get back any earlier :(
Gives me all day here to pamper the little madam - just heard her squeak so could be a UTI in the making maybe, it's the sudden weight loss that really worries me as she has always been a 'large' girl but can see her face has thinned out (still got her round butt).
Possibly kidney issue...I don't know, I read too much stuff tbh and become all pessimistic 8...

Probably wise to take a urine sample with you if possible, can just cover all bases that way. Really hoping she'll be ok, such a lovely girl.

Whatever it is, your on the ball and have caught it early. Lots of healing vibes her way and hugs to you.
Let us know how it goes.. x

Sheila has been to the vet and given a thorough examination...nothing sinister going on :laluot_15:
I was totally gobsmacked at the fees and asked if they had made a mistake - charged me £17.50 and we were there for a good 20 minutes chatting (vet has had piggies herself) Last vet I went to whacked me for £50 for 5 minutes of consultation !
Her teeth are perfect and the small lump is a cyst which we've been told to keep an eye on if it gets any bigger, if not, to leave alone.
She said that the water bottles can be awkward for piggies and to pop a small dish of water in as well as it may appear she is drinking too much but in reality, only tiny amounts are consumed from the spouts so they can spend time getting what they need :)
Have to weigh her regularly and ring if she loses any more as then they can do an ultrasound to rule out anything untoward internally so need to get some weight back on her.Vet believes there is nothing and is a good weight - she is 1003g atm so had not lost as much as I thought or our scales are poo !
Just sooo relieved mallethead I definitely read too much sometimes rolleyes Sheila was as good as gold but couldn't wait to get back to huspig Bruce...he dived out of the hay box rumbling when she went into the pen - think he thought it was another piggy for a few seconds but sat washing her face and nuzzling up to her which bought tears to my eyes x)
Lots of nice fresh noms and clean bedding for them - she's enjoying all this attention ;)

Thank you all for your well wishes - it paid off and Sheila says 'wheeky wheeks' for caring too :)p

I love these guys sooo much :(|)

Am so pleased for you! Well done little Sheila, bet Bruce was soooo happy to see her. x x

Wow that is great news! I hope she now starts to put some weight back on and the cyst stays as is. Well done x

Well done Sheila...!
I'm so releived for you love...!
Lodes of hugs to you... :))
x

glad to hear sheila is ok. i get extremely paranoid with my pets - the first sign of anything i'm straight off to the vets. it's not worth the risk to leave them and not get them checked is it. anyway see you saturday - we all look forward to meeting you, sally and the gang:)
