on another forum someone is feeding their guinea pigs a huge plate of frozen carrots and broccoli in ice every day!
it can't possibly be healthy right?

No it isn't, guinea pigs need FRESH vegetables not frozen, I think frozen doesn't have as much nutrition or something? I'm not sure...they also need more than just carrots and brocolli!

their argument is,
if i don't freeze it my dogs eat it before the piggies
wtf?

my dog would turn his nose up at uncooked carrots and broccoli he'd eat it cooked though

One of my piggies used to help himself to frozen peas(Cooked) when he was sat at the side of me at dinner time.

Maybe they think thye have to be cooked first?
Tell them they dont...just fresh ones from the produce department or from fruit and veg shops!
Why dont they just buy bags of mixed salad and keep their dogs away from them?

I wouldn't give frozen veg to piggies. however I read somewhere that in the Summer you can give them frozen fruit/fruit frozen in water in a bowl, which surprised me.

That isn't good for them cos they need fresh cos it's got more vits. etc. in. :o their dog must be odd to want raw veggies 98)

I would never give frozen veg to any of my lot :o

have to say though Skye my newfoundland dog drools as soon as she sees the fresh carrots and apples she is totaly addicted to them and would rather have an apple or carrot than a dog treat

Hi,frozen foods should never be given to piggies .Although freezing does not deplete the vitimin and mineral lev el all that much, frozen foods can cause serious digestive problems.Even veggies kept in a fridge should be taken out for at least 10 minutes before offering them to your furry friends.
