Our two recently adopted girls did not bond with our two ladies. So we divided the 3x6 cage in half. The two new girls, Luna and Rosie would NOT stop burrowing and so I decided to take matters in my own hands. We’ll see how it goes, I’ve already seen them digging at corners thinking they could get under... nope! LOL

Their plans have been scarpered 🤣 my girls burrow as well, so I have to clip the fleece to the correx. I would have ideally wanted to see liners, it’s easier when it comes to changing. Hmmm maybe I could see the sides longer so I can still clip it up.

My two mature guinea pigs never burrow and I wondered how come some people have this problem, then I got my young one. Well! Every morning now I have to rearrange the liners. I have seen her burrowing and running around under the liner. Also she sprints around and moves the liners that way too.
Unfortunately I cant do what you've done because I have made a whole pile of 2x1 liners for their cage. Its funny however to watch her getting up to her tricks.
Great idea though and I now understand what you're experiencing. LOL

Naughty Luna and Rosie but hey ‘ girls just wanna have fun’ 😊

Ha ha. I have a constant battle. I have mine similar but one will pull the fleece whilst the other wiggles through the gap. It’s a constant chase to find yet another safety pin!

I feel kind of bad, because they clearly burrowed for some reason. Comfort, because they were scared, etc. I just didn't think it was healthy, I only have one layer of uhaul pad under because the other two are litter box trained. So having these 2 new girls burrow means that uhaul pad was getting SOAKED quickly and that's not good for anyone. This way they are eating properly, and slowly starting to learn what the litter box is for, and we are able to socialize with them more :)

Mine have never tried thankfully. Look at the little one in the corner! She’s wondering where she can burrow next  I also love your fleece! xx

Nice set up and great solution. You could always put in a small fleece blanket or two so they can burrow under that instead. My boys used to like moving fleece blankets around in their pigloos before I changed their set up. I think it can be a comfort thing when they get scared.

My young one does it purely for fun and for mischief. I've seen her pop-corning around her cage, do zoomies all over then under the cage liner she goes. I think she likes my attention and my laughing doesn't help, i'm sure it makes her worse. Afterwards the liners are all messed up. Rascal.

When the foster lads arrived, they made it their mission to completely upturn everything. They’d get under the fleece, towels and puppy pads and make a right mess. Putting loose, crumpled fleece on top worked a treat as they just played in that and left the base layers alone. 😀
