What do I do?
My guinea pig has a back foot that’s swollen and red and way bigger than the other. His ear has a nick on it, then a black scab thing is covering it on the edges of the nick, and a small bump formed on that same ear since we got him. If you want a picture of each thing then please, please ask! He also has crusty eyes. I get the crust off every time, but he just keeps getting it. I asked a worker at a pet store and she said that it could just be allergies, but I wasn’t convinced. Now, he doesn’t ever eat his hay, and he barely drinks his water. I feed him fresh food every day though and he eats his food pellets. He also never wants to be picked up, and cowers in a corner in the cage and in floor time. We are taking him to the vet tomorrow though. But I’m just not sure if this vet will know what to do either. Now I just don’t know what to do, and I’ve got no one else to turn to. PLEASE HELP!

Hi, if you could put photo's up, that would be great.
What bedding is he on and is he indoors or outdoors? What pellets do you feed him? Where did you get him from?
Sorry for all the questions.
It is a good thing you are taking him to the vets tomorrow. Hopefully, he will be able to give you a proper diagnosis.

Please have your piggy seen by a good vet as soon as you can get an appointment!

Do not expect pet shop workers to have any ideas about pet care; this is sadly most often not the case. They also have a tendency to downplay any problems in case they may be stuck with the blame! If your problems are down to neglect/misinformation caused by the pet shop, you can send them the vet bill.

Where abouts are you located we can suggest a cavy savy vet :)

I took him in, and they said he was fine. His ear has gotten tons better, and his foot is no longer red or swollen. We had been putting a Gorgeous Guineas ointment on him. I was just wanting to have her help me find a cavy-savvy vet because I was wanting to go to a better vet next time. This vet was fine, but not too specific. I'm looking for the perfect vet I can get for my piggies!
