how do i get elvis fatter and how do i weigh him i have digital scales that weigh in kg and the kitchen scales only go up to 500g
 
If he has lost weight I think you will need to get him checked out by a vet :)

Weigh him on the digital scales... they should be fine...
 
i dnt no thats the problem coz i dnt no how to weigh him ccheck the start of the post.... i put on some potos of him the other day and ppl sad he looked kinda skinny and they said is he ill so that made me worry and yer
 
Can your scales reset to zero with a container? If so, you could put a suitable container on the scales (eg small carrier or plastic tub, reset the scales to zero then put Elvis into the container. My kitchen scales have that resetting facility so I always use them.

Alternatively, I wonder whether weighing yourself then weighing yourself holding Elvis would be exact enough? Depends on how exact your digital scales are. Mine weigh in units of 100g which is not really exact enough for small animals.

If neither scale is appropriate, could you look out for some new kitchen ones that reset to zero and weigh items up to 2kg?

Weigh him first :) Digital scales should be fine :)

A few just made comment that's all :) It might be the way he was sitting or the angle of the photo.\
 
Not sure on the weight issue what do you feed him and how much?
 
He might be a little on the light side for 6 months. I have an 10 month old whos 800g and I consider him small. I think he was about 600g or so when he was 6 months. Thats a rough guess I can't quite remember but he's only just recently started to put more weight on. He might have a growth spurt within the next couple of months.
 
He is without a doubt underweight. Since he is six months it is not age and I doubt he has dental problems, so it is most likely he is either ill or not feed enough. What do you feed him and how much? :)
 
Lettuce (iceberg) has no nutritional value so its kind of pointless feeding him only lettuce...
My lot get... Parsley, Lettuce, tomatoe, carrots and heaps of other stuff... and a scoop and a half of their dry mix :)

Here is a list of what piggies can and cant have... so maybe you can feed him a more 'different' diet... :)

i feed unlimited hay, and pellets, and fruit,veg twice a day and grass too. if he hasn't had grass before then introduce slowly.

What pellets do you give him? As you know iceberg lettuce is bad, so I presume you feed him romaine lettuce, however, you really need to vary his fruit and veggies. Give him some carrot, broccoli, cabbage and other fruits and veggies from the link BW has given you. Also like maisydaisystar has said he needs unlimited hay and grass, the grass will need to be introduced slowly. :)

Alfalfa is and Timonthy hay can be green, gold and/ or yellow (hay colour ;D). I hope that makes sense. Timonthy hay is the best and would do wonders for Elvis. Alfalfa should only be feed as a treat now and then. Sorry to keep on but what pellets do you feed him? O0
 
uuuummmmmm they come from the pet store in a plastic bag tpe of thing so i dnt no the name of it or anything sorry
 
That's not very good at all. He needs to be feed a decent guinea pig food. Try and find out the name of it. O0
 
Yup if it comes in a plastic bag it could just be generic pellets. Do you know the ingredients?

Your best bet would just be to feed good quality pellets, unlimited hay and a variety of vegetables each day. You want to put on "good" weight, not flab!

I agree, you really should know the name of it to make sure that it is indeed guinea pig food :)
 
it might be better to feed him p@h nuggets...at least then you know hes eating everything, and not picking bits out!

it sound dumb but make sure its guinea pig mix and not rabbit as he needs a lot or vit c :) you could be giving him rabbit stuff..

he needs hay constantly...I recommend carrot the occasional bit of potato skin to keep weight well, although i know some people will disagree :)
