This may sound daft, but can it happen?

I have got some new guinea pigs and where they were so scared and burrowed in hay I noticed a tiny bit of hay in eye, luckily it was a very soft bit and on the eye lid, it went further down then up, I flushed it out but didn’t see it. Can it physically go behind their eye and into their head? I can’t see it anywhere in her eye at the moment. I can’t take to a vet to check if she has trouble with it, but at the moment it seems fine

No it can't. At the most it can fetch up under a lid right against the edge of where the conjunctiva and cornea meet.

Thankyou, I will keep an eye on it, but I don’t want to bother them much for the first couple of days. The eye looks okay at the moment, no squinting or anything, what are the first tell tale signs something is in there?

Squinting, weeping and the eye can become cloudy. Please get them seen as soon as possible if you notice any of these symptoms. Eyes are classed as an emergency. I’m sure she will be fine.

Thea had a large hay seed stuck behind her eyeball for 3 months! Neither the vet or I could see it. It finally worked it's way out and I had to pull it out with the aid of a pair of sterilised tweezers. I only thought it was a tiny piece as that's all I could see. Had I realised how large it was I would, of course, have taken her to the vet for a professional to do it. Her eye was yellow and gunky for 3 months not cloudy at all and no ulcer (vet checked it).
