... cabbage!

I usually buy a sweetheart cabbage but they didn't look very nice this week, so I bought a normal cabbage and now my pigs won't eat it. They pick around it in the bowl and then leave it. I've tried whole leaves and finely shredded but they just turn their noses up in disgust. Flumpet's even demonstrated her distaste by pee'ing on it, so I've given up. I'm now reduced to eating the cabbage whilst they have lovely parsley, broccoli and bell peppers.
Last night I had mashed potato mixed with cabbage and quorn sausages. Tonight I had potato, cabbage and cheese pie.
Tomorrow I might try and stir fry it with cashew nuts.
After that, it's me or the cabbage :laluot_14:

I have a freezer full of cabbage soup from the last time I had veg to use up. And lots of cauliflower curry from when I bought a cauli just so my pigs could eat the leaves. And I had a whole head of broccoli for tea the other night because the girls had eaten all the stalks and I couldn't justify buying them more til I'd eaten up all the 'good' bits. It's a good job it's just me and my pigs that live here!

Adleast you have a healthy diet :))
 
The one good thing about having a group of piggies is that you can have more of a mix of veg; but we have lots of chunky veg soups in our house...

Like you, I have learned the hard way that piggies do not like normal cabbage!

Have you tried veg mince meat balls with lentils, rolled in cabbage leaves?
 
I gave up trying to feed mine cabbagey things very quickly! Good luck and i hope it does not have the same effect on you as me:red

MMM... sounds good. Do you steam/ boil the cabbage leaves?
 
My piggies like cabbage and I like cabbage. We have no problems finishing cabbage beföre it goes off. Freja even preferred cabbage to apple... :)
