Eriathwen
Adult Guinea Pig
It seems like forever ago I first saw you, a straggly looking little thing posed like a product for sale.. I was missing my last texel, Bramble, so much. I hoped to be able to have a healthy one to love for a long time, so when I saw you I immediately sent a message to see if you were available. Luckily the people who were meant to collect you never showed up, you were ours. I'll never forget seeing such a huge guinea pig being pulled out of such a little hutch. As soon as I saw you I knew you weren't the healthy girl I had hoped for, you were saggy with thinning hair on your belly, but I didn't care, you were coming home.
You were such a gentle giant from the moment you arrived, you patiently waited while I cut the nails on your deformed little feet, they had curled over and locked all your toes together..then you peed on me. The first of many, many times to come
then finally you were in a clean cage with lots of hay, you seemed relieved, like you knew you were somewhere safe.
It was an absolute joy to watch watch regain the ability to walk properly, which you had lost in such a small cage with so much fluid built up. It became obvious quite quickly as you lost the fluid that you were skin and bone under all that flab, something was wrong, but we just couldn't figure out what.
You made so many friends, something I've no idea you if you had the chance to do before. Ebony was always your favourite, until you met Gus
your doting little husband who worshipped you after his own lonely start to life.
We spent so much time together these last few months, I'm grateful we got to become such good friends, we had our moments
you would occasionally get frustrated at being syringe fed, and in return would pee on me to show your feelings on the matter! I haven't eaten a meal in months that didn't involve you beside me, watching TV and eating your own food. I've been so lost today without you, I cant remember what I used to do with free time.
I hope you know how much you mean to me, I dont really even know what to say. There aren't any words to say what a special piggy you were and how missed you will be.
