Hi there,

I'm revamping the pigs' emergency kit and I was wondering (seeing as we can't access oxbow products so not critical care etc) whether this product is safe for the piggies:

http://www.kyronlabs.co.za/products/product.php?pid=22

The url has composition, despcription etc.
Also the animals listed there are all the species that Kyron makes products for specifically, they don't specifically make for g pigs...

Thanks in advance! :)

This solution looks similar to the solutions we use for intravenous drips, with added glucose. I cant see it hurting for an oral rehydration solution and I'm pretty sure (though not 100% - i'd have to research the composition) it can be used for piggies. I would suggest something like lectade or glutolyte which are a fab oral rehydration we use at the vets.

x.

This looks like diaralyte? it's a fluid and electrolyte replacement drink. Provided you mix it up in the right ratio (ie water to powder...unless it comes pre-made up), I think it would be fine for piggies.

Blimey if you can use it for horses you're gona need to dilute it a helluva lot for piggies!

Also it isn't a food with fibre as Critical Care is, and part of the point of CC is it keeps their gut moving which is essential for guinea pigs. This is just an electrolite so will just help them get salts etc. back in their body. You would need to be syringe feeding mushed up pellets or similar too.

Can someone on here not post you any CC? Find out the postage and I would happily do so.

Would you? That would be really really great! I'll look it up, how much does CC cost? (Without postage) :)

i purchase this item yesterday as my two boys had been scratching for few days now. they have no patches or no mites that i can see. the shop do not sell anything about mites which makes me so anxious in case that my boys has mites. can someone please advice if i can still use them for my boys? there is not much information of how to use it hence i spray it to their back area after i bath them.
Thank you

I can get it from my vet but can probably find it cheaper online, I will investigate tomorrow for you!

Thanks so so much! (I'm all excited now hehe) :) My only issue is we have the dodgiest postal system and half the stuff never arrives... Insured mail might be really expensive... I'll see I guess

I could see if I could use the work DHL account if you pay me but dunno how much that will be either. Probably a lot too :{

Looks like a 141g pack, so thats 3 36g sachets ish I think, is about £10. They do have shipping to the rest of the world options on some sites, not sure if you have noticed?

I will ring my vet and ask their price tomorrow.

You have been such an amazing help, thanks so much :) I have seen shipping on some sites but it is UNBELIEVABLY expensive to ship here, not sure if it's normal or extra profit making...

Just looked up DHL shipping rates / calculator and it'll cost about 50 pounds to ship it, I think it's just too expensive... It's 5 times the amount of the actual CC! Anyway, thanks so much for trying to help but I can't afford such expensive shipping :( :( :( 8...

Flippin heck that is expensive, I'm so sorry hun, I can understand that is a lot to spend especially as it is so much more than the CC!

Are there any other sites that are based in SA you can fine something similar on?
