After losing his friend Willow on tuesday Bracken has been very subdued but still eating. Last night he didn't want his corriander and just laid in his hay tray with his head under the hay. This morning he was burrowed completely under the hay and wouldn't come out when tempted with cucumber. I had been toying with the idea of trying the three boys together but knowing trios hardly ever work I decided not to try it and spent most of the night gathering information on rescues to start ringing round today. As Willow had pneumonia I can't in all fairness let Bracken near other pigs for at least two weeks. Spike and Peanut had also been exposed to Willow on monday when they met through the bars at floortime, Spike actully rubbing noses with him. Knowing I had a lot to loose and maybe nothing to gain I built a 3 x 5 pen in the living room and added a pile of grass and hay, 3 water bottles and 3 little pigs. For the last 4 hours I have been sitting here with the oven gloves over my shoulder. There has been lots of talking and bum sniffing, Spike tried to mount Bracken once, Bracken did a rumble strut, all three started eating and eating. I've since added 3 bowls of nuggets, they stood together and shared the same one. They are currently sleeping side by side so the next test will be when they wake up. Even if this only gets us through the next couple of weeks and eventually breaks down it will have been worth it. If I've gained nothing else Bracken has had a good feed. I may end up taking 3 little pigs boar dating but who needs a living room anyway! Please everyone keep your fingers crossed these three little pigs don't have to go to the dating market.

Sadly after 6 hours I had to give this up, it was worth trying though. Spike and Peanut were quite happy to have Bracken around them, they shared food and sat together beautifully. Bracken decided he wanted to be top pig and repeatedly mounted their heads, I left him hoping it would all die down but Spike and Peanut working as a team sandwiched him between them and gave him several nips. No blood drawn but I decided it was not worth causing them any more grief. So the search goes on for a friend for Bracken.

Aw what a shame it didnt work out :( still, at least now you know! I'm sure his new little buddy will come along when the time is right.
