I just noticed one of my girls has 3 nipples! How odd! any other 3 nippled sows out there?

Yes male piggies have nipples! My first piggy (15 years ago now!) was a lovely boy called Max, and we freaked out at first when we saw he had nipples!

I also have a three-nippled sow. How strange! Perhaps it's more common than we think?!?!

I thought my male piggy had 3 nipples, only to discover it was his belly button! :))

Yes I have had a sow with three nipples. Two nipples that looked normal but the third that was small by comparison to the other nipples. I guess that third nipple may not have produced milk, but who knows?

Weird but might be quite common. Look forward to hearing from other members.

We also noticed recently that butters, one of our sows, has three nipples.... So it sounds like this isn't as weird as we originally thought.

When I was about 12 I had no idea whether my guinea pig Yoshi was a girl or a boy because I freaked out over the nipples but then found out males could have them too. I found it too hard to tell from the genitals aswell lol. I always felt she was a girly though :) Ahh I miss that piggy <3

oooo I want to go disturb sleeping piggies now just to check how many nipples they have :))

All mammals have a mammary strip including us, some species only have two nipples, some have 6, some have 8 but in each species the strip still is present so extra nipples are common.

I noticed years ago that aberdeen angus cows have 6 teats - not sure if this was just the ones I have seen or if this is a breed trait, rather embarrasing as farming was my job years ago, but some of the milking cows that I have come across had 5 working teats, some were almost like a doubled up one - they had fused together. Working with milking goats who have only two quarters (as in two working teats, the udder is still called quarters), some again had an extra working teat. I also worked with a billy goat that had a huge udder (bigger than his man bag :o ) but no we didnt milk him :))

And something I have never admitted to anyone before :red I developed two "spare" nipples when I hit puberty :red but have had them removed due to medical reasons. Humans can also develop extra nipples, male or female as we also carry the mammary strip gene.

I once had a boyfriend with 3 nipples - his nickname was Scaramanger after the James Bond baddy:))

Cameo had a weird lump thing removed when she was spayed - it *looked* like an extra nipple, but it wasn't - the pathologist didn't really know what it was!
