Good evening
Guinevere. Thank you for asking.
I have mixed news on Midge and positive words about your other question
I gave Midge a diuretic, on Vedra's advice, and although I noticed no increased output in urine or intake of water, her ability and inclination to eat has picked up noticeably. Her noisy and laboured breathing was felt to be part of the trouble causing her difficulty eating, and possibly due to fluid collection on the lungs. She was definately using physical effort to breathe, whatever the cause. This, I have always felt, was in part responsible for her continued weight loss and the trouble she was having synchronising breathing and swallowing
before factoring in any dental or mouth issues. These may have been either the primary problem or the logical progression of a pig not eating. Proper chicken and egg situation.
In spite of an apparent absence of the 'expected' effect, Midge was very hungry and keen for her breakfast, and her lunch and tonight her dinner. These were all syringe feeds followed by a dish of fresh grass, cleavers and baby dandelion leaves. She is perkier, breathing with far less effort and very feisty. She had a generous helping of her favourite tiny peas and these, like the herbage, went down without interruption or pause.
You tell me what's going on!
