Hi there

We have a trio consisting of two sows (Sephy and Xena) and a neutered boar (Logan). We added Sephy to the other two over a year ago. Logan and Xena are very docile and passive, but Sephy is very dominant and aggressive - she will chase Logan around the cage and mount him when in season, which he does not like at all, poor guy.

Logan and Xena like to cuddle together and if Sephy comes near them they will complain. They seem to deliberately exclude her and when she is taken out for a cuddle by herself, they are clearly relieved and on more than one occasion have popcorned around the cage!

They never fight, but do nip at each other. It seems a bit sad that Logan and Xena have a lovely bond and Sephy is mostly left out.

Is there anything we can do? We discussed maybe adding another sow in the mix for Sephy to be friends with? Or does she risk still being left out? Could it destabilise the bond the three of them already have? Should we just leave them be as there is no fighting? We don't want to separate completely.

I have three sows that switch back and forth but one does seem to be kind of left out of the crowd as the other two are more dominant. I give her more attention when taking out and watch her in the cage. She doesn't really seem to mind it when the other two play together, however and is much more shy. Eating time and salad time do make everyone the best of friends (how is it for the eating, etc for yours? Separate areas with a few of everything? Just curious about this aspect but the cage set-up is a factor too).

I would definitely not separate. If no fighting, all is fine in that aspect. I never say no to adding for caring piggy slaves, if they can (smile) especially with sows. To be honest, we are waiting on a pregnancy with a mis-sexing mistake and I am looking forward to a sow to add to this trio.

Pixie is younger and came to me barely two weeks old while the others were older (she came in to a friend of mine at a local pet store whom called with concerns for her age and potential other issues). It did have an impact the first week or so before and it seems to still be a factor in her role with the others. She has given a little squeal and been nipped by my first guinea pig but it's very quick and she will go up in the loft or to the other area to eat. She's starting to put her nose up higher every once in awhile but usually is very noticeably the more submissive to the other two in the group and stays to herself.

I have just posted pretty much the same. Our two girls were bonded together then put with nboar and our smallest sow is always left out but loves to run round after him in season. I always feel bad for her x this pic is what its always like with them x
