Senior Guinea Pig
We have had a horrible few days. First of all we lost Thumbelina on Saturday, I got home from town and found her, she must have passed a few hours earlier. Then on the same day I noticed that Mary's breathing wasn't right and so after consulting with the vet she was started on Sulfatrim and diuretics, and she had shown a little bit of improvement each day. However, last night all of a sudden she deteriorated and passed in Ross's arms on the way to the emergency vet. I suspect that both girls had underlying issues that were affected by the recent humidity.
Thumbelina came to us in April 2015 with her friend Tabitha, she was only a few months old. They had been handed into rescue as their previous owners could no longer care for them. She was devoted to Tabitha and I would often find them curled up together in the cozy or fleecy bulb, she had the loudest wheek at veg time and would wheek on behalf of both of them as Tabitha has hardly any voice. Tabitha is doing ok on her own but we will be bonding her shortly. The picture below, shows Thumbelina in the front and Tabitha in the back. A lot of my older photos are archived and I can't access them at work.
Mary came to us in May 2016, she had been born in rescue and was much smaller than her siblings and so was fostered by a lady in Northampton. Debbie from TEAS put us in touch and we were able to adopt her. She was only 523g when she arrived but she soon started to gain weight as she thrived in Moo's old herd. They welcomed her straight away as they had only recently lost Katie skinny and they cared for Mary in the exact same way as they did Katie. Over the last year, the herd shrunk in size as we said goodbye to Moo and Amy but Mary was happy with her best friend Little Rose and Fuzzy too. She is snuggled up to Little Rose in the photo below. She was feisty and knew what she wanted, which she told Ronnie the skinny straight away when we tried to add him to the herd. So he had to live alongside and now has his own little friend.
Sweet dreams angels, I am so sorry we had to say goodbye so soon. Love you.
I am going to put the photos below as they won't upload properly.
