I’ve seen the vet this week about her soft poo’s. Despite giving her probiotics she’s no different. When I saw the vet, she recommended fibreplex, I ordered off the net but I’ve got one for rabbits. Can I use it, & do l have to adjust the dosage. She thinks Tia probably has an underline health, problem although it’s not showing yet, her tummy is swollen each side. She’s bright & happy except for this. She says these problems, are common in the older piggy’s. we’ve worked out she’s only 7.

I’m sure it’s the same for both rabbits and guinea pigs? Hopefully someone will come along soon, it’s been a while since I’ve used it.
Hope you find out what Tia’s health problem is and it’s easily treated x

If it is for rabbits, it is safe to give to guinea pigs, too. ;)

All the best. Lose poos and mild bloating is not at all uncommon in older piggies as the food absorption is no longer optimal. Some piggies are much more sensitive than others. All the best. 7 years is a grand age!

Thanks everyone, Tia has been on this fibreplex for 24 hours now, it’s brilliant stuff, she is so much better, her tummy. Was really hard & now it’s soft. I’m so happy now, Tia seems quite pleased as well :D

Well done having one that's reached 7 years old! My goodness we've never managed that. Mine have had Fibreplex in the past - some love it straight from the tube but some have been wary so I mixed it into a small amount of 'Recovery' food for them (the one that comes as a fine powder and you mix it to a thick slurry). But if Tia is enjoying it so much the better 😊

I just found out Tia is 6 1/2 instead of 7. I shall kill my hubby. She’s 7 in June ’ve been cuddling her every night in she goes. Never mind though we both enjoy it.

How is little old ladyTia doing? hope she’s fully recovered now x

I spent all my 38th year thinking I was 39 (I think that's when the memory loss started!) It was quite a nice surprise about a month from my birthday realising that I was going to be 39 instead of the 40 I'd been anticipating 😅
Yes it all goes down hill from there 😆 Not really it’s not that bad, but I never remember what the word on Wordle was from one day to the next

She's great she still gets soft Pooh's now & again, then I just start with fibreplex again & that's great. I try to keep my mind off her age.
I've got 2 little ones joined the clan, & she has been an angel, no problem,

Hi and welcome back

Does it really matter? Just enjoy that you may have a slightly higher chance of having her with you a bit longer and simply enjoy every day and every cuddle you have with her. ;)

Aw great she’s doing so well and enjoying two new piggies for company

It’s good to hear she has company and is trotting along well as an older lady.

Your right Wiebke, it doesn’t matter.
I was surprised they all took to the newbies, Teddy’s a nut spends his day popcorning. Zoe is far to pretty to popcorn. Back of her skirt must have increased quarter a inch since we have had her. Do long haired piggies just need brushing 24/7 or should l get something to make her tangle free as well as brushing.

Long haired piggies need their hair to be kept in check with regular brushing and cutting. I have a long haired piggy and I cut his hair so none of it ever drags on the ground. He is brushed but he doesn’t really like it. I’m summer his hair is cut shorter all over so he doesn’t get hot

You could have got away with 2 celebrations if you hadn't ‘remembered’ until after the 1st one :D:D

My Louise hates hates hates any form of brushing - I think she finds it painful because she cries and struggles. So I don't brush, but every couple of months when her hair gets too long she gets a serious clipper cut. She tolerates this pretty well as long as the clippers or guards don't actually touch her skin. I don't do any of her ginger face because of the whiskers! When the hair is long she moves about less, walks into things, seems more tired and is sometimes more nervous because she can't run away very well and she can get stuck in small spaces. She gets waxy ears because her head is hot! After the cut she takes a day to get used to it but then she's scampering and bouncing around. You should see the hay dust and dirt that is stuck in the roots too - but within the day she has been able to groom it all out herself and is much happier. She's my first long haired pig and it took me a while to figure out what to do for the best with her because I just assumed she'd be used to being brushed but there you go!

She’s good thanks. My winge at the latest thing is although I clean 4 times a day, they still manage to tread in the poo. When I give them a foot bath you’d think I was killing them.
