Unfortunately a few days ago I had to say goodbye to my goofball lemon agouti, Bean, the other day due to a nasty respiratory infection and am now left with my floofball Sprout. The timing couldn’t have been worse as we’ve now been placed in tier 4 (Gloucestershire) so I’m not really sure what to do in terms of finding her a new friend. If anyone could advise I’d be very grateful.

P.s the articles on here have been a lot of help and sprout is now back to her normal self eating and drinking happily (and wheeking every time I open something remotely rustley)

I am so sorry for your loss of Bean. I am pleased to hear Sprout is back to normal. I would get in touch with any rescues near you and see what they suggest. They often have waiting lists so at least that way you can start the ball rolling and get on the list. Little Wheekers is on your side of Bristol and comes highly recommended. I will link in the locator for you so you can find any other rescues near to you recommended by the forum.

I’m sorry for your loss. Glad to hear Sprout is getting on okay though.

Some of the rescues may not be operating a bonding or adoptions in the usual way. Do contact them and let them know you’re looking for a friend for Sprout. With regards travel I believe it’s within your piggy’s rights so it’s allowed. Someone else can give you more info.

I’ve contacted little wheekers and they’ve said that it’s rare to get single sows. My task has also just been made incredibly harder with the new national lockdown so I’ll have to see what happens

From tomorrow this thread should hopefully turn into a bonding journal/progress update, pictures soon!
Awesome!

I went through this in April when we were on lockdown. My sow was alone for a little over a month after her cage mate died. We picked up a single sow in the shelter parking lot and brought her home without even seeing her. It was intense and luckily worked out!

Good luck, can't wait to see more!

What do you want it changed to please?

I am sorry for your loss also x

Best wishes!

So I hope I'm not being a know it all or anything, but I just wanted to share something. When we got my bereaved pig a new friend, it really brought up a lot of emotions for the pig I lost. Even though I knew they needed a friend and I wasnt replacing her. Just be ready cause that took me by surprise ✨

Good luck with the bonding. Have some oven gloves ready just in case you need to separate them. Hopefully you won't need to. You'll soon know whether your piggies like each other or not.
