Hi everyone .Yesterday evening Tigger was happily munching on a carrot and suddenly started coughing. On checking her she was covered in drool and carrot juice was coming out her nose . She seemed to recover after being held a little upright and her back gently rubbed , patted and wiped her nose on tissue. She recently was at vets approx 2-3 week ago for a dental after a history of drooling and coughing but nothing was found .Following the investigation she seemed better for unknown reasons and has since had minimal coughing episodes but this occasion was quite bad and thought she might have been struggling for a breath although there was no blueness to her tongue .She feeds ok on lettuce , celery etc and has taken a liking to Recovery which she eats as a paste from a dish so has put on some weight. She is still,on daily metacam and ranitidine since being at the vets. Does anyone have any idea of the cause of this choking ? Could she be allergic to something or maybe the carrot is too chunky for her ?reflux ? Do guinea pigs get that ?!sorry for all these questions but a bit worried about her .Also her meds are running low and the vets won't give a repeat prescription without seeing her first .I find this a little annoying as I know they won't find anything obviously wrong .
