Tikka just jumped out of my arms as i was locking up his hutch so his hutch mate didn't get out. I've only had him a week and although he is very tame, perhaps he just got scared cos i am new to him. He fell to the floor and i feel so awful. He just struggled so hard and although i had him in both arms he twisted and turned so i couldnt keep him in. I@m so worried. He is walking about fine, eating ok (i gave him some cucumber) and seems fine and i checked him all over, but i know a fall from hight can be a problem. He really does seem normal and happy and didn't scream or seem in pain when he fell.

Is there anything else i should check? I feel so so so terrible

Well, i think we had a lucky escape. He's sitting on my lap happy as larry and definately not in discomfort anywhere. Sorry to worry you all.

I would still keep an eye on Tikka and keep him warm in case of shock but it sounds positive :)

Oh bless him, pleased he seems ok, Id check his teeth as sometimes they can catch their teeth when they fall. Sounds like they are ok though with him eating. :)

Oh no hope Tikka is ok. Yep defo keep an eye just incase. Keep us posted! :)

he's still with me and really enjoying his cuddle. I'm just about to put him back in his hutch but will check on him regularly tonight.

Thanks for listening

Oh how scary for you! I am glad he seems ok, I have nearly had this with one of mine. They are wrigglers :o

I knew they could wriggle, but this was ridiculous...a gp who is stronger than me....mad.

He's back in his hutch and behaving normally. He's eaten some more veg from my hand so his teeth must be ok.

Thanks all for the advice and concern.

Hi Sarah

You've done exactly the right thing. Just keep your eyes on him for a couple of days in case of any leg problems. You have a very sturdy pig on your hands there, in fact the biggest I've ever seen so he's a real tough one.

Keep us posted.

I'm so glad you've seen this MandM...i've been feeling awful. I hate to think what would have happened to a smaller pig...thank God he is so huge.

He's walking fine, and I've felt his legs top to bottom and he's not in any discomfort. Silly piggy. They love cuddles, but are still very wary of me going in to pick them up (understandable really).

I can't believe i go and do this after less than a week. Argh.

I'll report back in the next couple of days to let you know he's ok.

Well done on rescuing those piggies from the sale by the way!

Glad he's doing ok, don't worry it could happen to any of us no matter how careful - I dropped Womble the first day I had her and she turned out to be pregnant! Still feeling awful about that, but she just slipped...

Glad Tikka bounced back, as it were, hope he's ok

Gla he is doing ok as Sophie says it could happen to anyone no matterhow careful thy are piggys are wrigglers and leapers sometimes, I am just glad I used to play a lot of rugby and cricket! A quite catch or dive can be necessary at times with rescue pigs hat have not been handled before they come here.

Minty took a tumble yesterday - was cleaning them out and had the top off the cage. Ben was chasing him and Minty decided to take a death leap off the edge....I'm just thankful that he landed in the hay bag! Don't think it phased him too much, in fact I'm sure he wanted to stay right where he landed! ::) :smitten:

2funny 2funny 2funny that would be right with boys cheeky boy O0 just keep an eye on tikka for the next few days and try to keep him warm. OH was showing jessie off to next door when jessie was younger. she wiggled and fell on tiled verandah and she was fine. so hoping tikka is too. sending hugs and good vibes :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Once, I was holding Treacle in one hand and the water bottle in the other. Treacle got a bit spoked (she doesn't like being held vertically, she prefers to be nestled in my arms) and she wriggled. I had to drop the bottle in order to keep hold of her and it broke.
I just thank God it wasn't her that fell.
