Hi All,

As you all know I moved the pigs around on Saturday. Floa and Fleur are in the Lavender Lodge, I have 2 but I've put them in the boys one (cleaned out of course) as it is in a sheltered area of the garden. So I have a spare Lavender Lodge at the mo. :) Anyway the girls have been very timid, they were always quite quiet anyway, I've never seen them popcorn but they do run around so I was wondering what can I do to make them feel more secure, I take them out for 1 hour each day, should I leave them be and try and get them to trust me from the hutch side? Fleur will take food from me but it is Flora who is really shy and runs away from us.

I know it will improve in time, but what can I do in the meantime? :)

Thanks,

Louise

Just keep at it :)

If you can bring them inside, that will make 'taming' them a lot easier and quicker process!

Sitting next to the cage, just talking to them gets them used to your voice and your presence.

Taking them out for short periods 2 or 3 times a day is best, each time giving a treat :smitten:

It could be a long process, but just keep doing what you are doing, and you'll get there O0

Thanks PP, we were getting somewhere but since moving the hutch it feels like a step backwards. I'll keep on at them. :)

Hi theyll popcorn when they are ready but I'm sure theyll be ok O0 Most piggys are very unsettles but theyll get used to you in no time trust me ~ Do they have lots of hidey places etc ? O0

The only advice is patience ;) As you probably know I've had the pigs for nearly 10 months now..about two months ago they finally started eating food from my hand when out of the cage..now they will eat it out of my hand whilst they're *in* the cage and don't run away as soon as I enter the room..they look around first, Pepper usually still runs away but Beauty mostly stays put. I still havn't given up ;)

Hiya,

They have an igloo each and loads of hay, literally piled to the top of the hutch in the bedding area as they love to hide up. I have made a run for them in the hall with the grids I had left over from the cage and it's about 6ft x 3ft so hopefully with putting them in there they will be ok over time. :)

Jane, bless. I guess it just takes a hell of a lot of time. Are Sows more Skittish than boys as my boys aren't like that at all?
